The Swiss Digital Pathology Initiative (SDPI) and the Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) are joining forces to push biomedical research and precision medicine forward in Switzerland. 🇨🇭 By combining SDPI's digital pathology expertise with SPHN Semantic Interoperability Framework, this partnership will open up new possibilities for innovation. Matthias Baumgartner will become the new president of SPHN Starting in 2025, Prof. Baumgartner will succeed Prof. Urs Peter Frey, who has held the position since 2019. Matthias Baumgartner is Full Professor of Metabolic Diseases at the Universität Zürich | University of Zurich and Director of Research and Teaching at the University Kinderspital Zürich. He brings extensive experience in rare disease research and leadership of national initiatives, including the Swiss Rare Disease Registry. His expertise and network across the Swiss healthcare system will support #SPHN as it moves into the maintenance phase. Under Urs Frey’s leadership, SPHN has grown into a vital part of Switzerland’s health research ecosystem with: 🏥 Over 30 institutions involved 👩🔬 More than 800 researchers engaged ✨ 4 National Data Streams in collaboration with the ETH domain PHRT - Personalized Health and Related Technologies 🧪Around 60 funded projects and collaborations We thank Urs Frey for his strategic guidance, which has shaped SPHN into a strong network. His contributions have laid the foundation for a sustainable health data infrastructure to benefit research and innovation. 🔎 The SPHN Metadata Catalogue- Schema Scope now includes a FAIR data endpoint! By implementing the FAIR data endpoint specification alongside the DCAT vocabulary, our metadata catalog is now machine-readable and fully interoperable. This enhancement not only aligns with global standards but also ensures streamlined, accessible, and collaborative data sharing across platforms. An exciting, varied and highly interesting symposium has come to an end: over 450 participants, more than 30 speakers and numerous supporters have made this event such a success.
