📢 Ongoing Seminar Series! 🗓️ Join Tetiana Kalenychenko, Denys Brylov, Cedric de Coning and Marko Lehti for the 6th edition of the seminar series, “Ukrainian Visions of Peace: (Re-)Shaping Peace through Victory.” 🕊️ 📅5 December 2024 ⏰16:00 - 17:30 CET 📌Online The series delves into how Ukrainian perspectives on peace have evolved since 2022. Unlike the usual calls for negotiated settlements, many Ukrainians emphasize military self-defense as the path to achieving peace through victory. The seminar will examine the complexities of this vision, exploring the tensions between armed resistance, peace by peaceful means, peace and justice, and militarization and democracy. ⚖️ Don't miss this chance to engage with critical insights into how Ukrainians are (re)shaping the concept of peace. 📚 Learn more about the series: 🔗 More info: https://t.ly/1IGue 🔗 Register here: https://t.ly/_PLg7

On 13 November 2024, we had the pleasure to host a screening of “Agenda Item: Erasure”, a movie by Akevot Institute for Israeli-Palestinian conflict research on the role of access to archival materials in conflict-affected contexts. The subsequent panel discussion with Akevot's director, Lior Yavne and the former Secretary-General of the Bergier Commission, Linus von Castelmur, who is also president of pro swisspeace, shed light on the important role that archives can play in fostering a more informed and nuanced dialogue during and after conflicts. 📙 Insightful article on climate change, conflict & pacific resilience: Günther Bächler—head of the former Environmental Degradation and Conflict project at @[swisspeace](swisspeace) and ETH Zurich—warns of climate change as a driver of social and political instability worldwide. He highlights the Pacific Islands as a model of resilience: while rising seas threaten their homes, indigenous leaders emphasize “Pasifika relationality,” a philosophy of deep connection to land and sea, focusing on cultural strength and peaceful adaptation over fear.
