Trailblazer Chris Weaver is helping redefine soybean farming in Maryland, U.S. by combining traditional and sustainable methods. His yields have soared above the regional average as a result. 🚀 While neighboring farms typically harvest 50-55 bushels an acre, Chris's yields have leapt to 160. He puts this down to meticulous soil management, data-driven experimentation and strategic partnerships. 🌾 “When we started, I think my dad thought I had lost my mind,” Weaver recalls. “But throughout the years, I’ve proven to him that this is profitable. We can produce more on less acres today.” 🌱 #Innovation #Agriculture #Sustainability #SoybeanFarming

Rich history, vibrant culture, and the birthplace of flamenco - Spain is the next destination in our Crops and Cultures series! 💃 Spain's agricultural sector has a significant economic impact - outperforming major European economies (such as France and Germany) in GDP contribution. In 2023, Spanish agriculture had a record-breaking year. Olive oil and wine production soared, pushing the industry's value at ~$70 billion. 🫒 🍷 With two specialized production plants and a research center in Spain, we're developing solutions to advance sustainable agriculture in the country, so we can keep delivering high-quality seeds and innovative crop solutions across Europe. Every farmer deserves products that perform reliably, season after season. How can you trust that the product you plant in each field will deliver the desired results? 🌱 Our research & development and agronomy teams have created STEPP (Strategic Testing for Effective Product Placement) Trials, a rigorous two-year testing program to ensure that products launched for farmers can be precisely placed and matched to each field. These pre-commercial trials help us select the best products for local conditions, giving farmers access to tailored solutions that meet each field's unique challenges. The result? Confidence, consistency, and high-yield harvests, year after year. #STEPPTrials #FarmWithConfidence #Syngenta

How do we tackle one of agriculture's biggest challenges – restoring and maintaining soil health? At the LaSalle Soil Health Research Center in Colorado, we're using cutting-edge technology and data science to help. 🌱 From precision mapping to regenerative practices, we’re helping farmers nurture and restore soil, using data, digital tools and analysis. This is what our Chief Soil Scientist Matthew Wallenstein calls “soil intelligence”. With increasing weather extremes making it more difficult for farmers to grow healthy crops, our LaSalle Research Center is a unique testbed, helping to future-proof soil – the foundation of our food. Here’s how we’re building a better future for farming: https://lnkd.in/eAKJUuE8

What if plants could tell farmers how they're feeling? In collaboration with InnerPlant and John Deere, we've developed an innovative technology that lets plants in distress send fluorescent SOS signals. Satellites track these signals, giving farmers more control over their crops' health, reducing the need for chemical treatments and optimizing yields. It's a game-changing solution for farmers globally, and that's why TIME has named this solution, called CropVoice, one of the Best Inventions of 2024! 🏆 CropVoice underscores our shared commitment to sustainable agriculture and helping farmers adapt using precision tools. Learn how CropVoice works here: https://lnkd.in/gzsfFXxR #TIMEBestInventions #AgTech #InnerPlant

When it comes to sunflower cultivation, weeds are a significant challenge for growers. Because of their slow growth in initial growth stages and lower planting density, weeds can impact yields by more than 58%. With limited herbicide options and few sunflower varieties that can tolerate them, effective weed control has been historically tough – until now. Sunflower growers seek a new level of resilience to give them confidence that their crops won’t be adversely affected by multiple herbicides. Fabrice Comin, Manager at Rominsem, can see the positive impact of our new sunflower technology system on the farm in Mircea Vodă village, Romania, as it “offers flexibility in herbicide use and a kind of insurance for having clean soil.” Learn more about overcoming this weed infestation at: https://lnkd.in/esXmY9-F #Agriculture #Innovation #Sustainability
