Towards CO2-neutral, circular construction

Info

The Institute for Building Technology and Process IBP is an interdisciplinary platform for researching and teaching new technologies and processes in architecture. The focus is on hybrid lightweight construction, digital technologies in design and fabrication, building energy systems and technologies, and digital construction processes and management. At the interface of architecture and engineering, we develop practical approaches in collaboration with industry partners. These include the digitalization of planning and manufacturing processes, the sustainable and resource-saving use of energy and materials, the connection of intelligent and integrated systems in hybrid construction, the development of constructive systems under the aspect of circular economy, and the use of data- and test-based methods for the optimization of form and construction. The goal of the institute is inter- and transdisciplinary networking with universities as well as industrial partners. In doing so, academic research is to be meaningfully linked with the development of practical construction technologies in a real-world context. Through technological developments, we thus make an important contribution to the transformation of the construction industry and actively shape the orientation and processes of our discipline.
