Happy Sunday Fam🤗, It has become a tradition in RADA that before every Christmas/New Year break, the staff/volunteers of the organization go through the yearly set goals and achievements, challenges, and plans for the next year. On December 19 and 20, 2024, the team had a workation😌 session. Seating according to the departments/domains of RADA, with the CEO leading the session, each department report was reviewed, ensuring that it truly reflects what was achieved in 2024. We also looked at our annual end-of-year and staff surveys, whose results showed our services were overall good but also highlighted key areas which needed improvement. The results from both surveys have set the pace for 2025, which is in addition to the plans that have been developed from RADA's five-year strategic plan. Notwithstanding, other key activities during the workation😌 were fun and relaxation games alongside a SWOT Analysis, which will serve as a roadmap to guide the various teams as they strive to achieve and exceed their goals in 2025. We sincerely appreciate each individual and organization who has partnered/ collaborated with RADA in 2024, your support has been invaluable to us. Day 4✅ Here is an update on the 16 days of Activism. Yesterday RADA's #GBV team visited the Women’s Group at Charis Community Baptist Church as part of activities for the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV. The session focused on raising awareness about GBV, highlighting its various forms such as physical, emotional, sexual, and economic. The team went further to discuss practical ways to recognize signs of abuse. The importance of supporting survivors through listening without judgment and providing access to local resources like shelters and counseling was emphasized. The discussion was also guided by scripture, with participants reflecting on God’s call to protect and uplift one another, while also committing to promoting respect, healthy relationships, and solidarity within their community. Everyone has a crucial role in ending #GBV in the community. We received the staff of Reconciliation and Development Association (RADA) at the office today. They presented a very interesting study on Youth Perceptions and Level of Engagement in the Resolution of the Anglophone Armed Conflict in Cameroon. This survey covered 800 youths in the North West and South West Region and uncovered among other interesting factors that 70% of youths do not want violence as a solution. 81% believe they have an important role to play in resolving the crises. Hi fam, It's been a while since we've updated ourselves on the "Advocacy for a health tax increase on sugary drinks and unhealthy packaged foods based on evidence for public health and development benefits" project. The project team is working closely with the sub directorate of NCDs under CAMEROUN MINSANTE/SDLMCNT to plan for the upcoming High Level Forum on NCDs in Cameroon with a focus on Youths, NCDs, Nutrition and Health. In the past couple of months the team, has also engaged in update meetings with the GHAI team to provide updates on the current state of the project as well as internal planning meetings. Also the survey protocol has been reviewed and finalized. This will be administered all through the national territory to collect data on knowledge, attitudes and behaviors related to unhealthy packaged food products in Cameroon. Lastly, a training of CSOs who will administer the survey all over the national territory took place today at 10:00 am. This training aimed at getting the survey administrators to understand the purpose of the survey and its relevance in this study. Dear CACSNA Family, On Monday, November 18, 2024, the alliance members of the CACSNA Cameroon NCD Alliance participated in a Stakeholder Analysis and Strategic Planning Session. This session was supported technically and financially by the Global NCD Alliance and its partners, the @Leona M. and Harry B. Hensley Charitable Trust. The first segment of the session featured a presentation by Judith Chekumo, who provided a Situational Analysis of NCD Prevention and Control Policies in Cameroon. Her presentation included insights on how the research was conducted through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), Key Person Interviews, and Desk Reviews, revealing key findings and strong recommendations. Next, Ferdinant M. Sonyuy presented the results from the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) mapping exercise, which highlighted the need for effective collaboration and identified areas where CSOs working on NCDs need to build their capacities. The second segment of the session involved a stakeholder mapping exercise. Alliance members were divided into three working groups. After an intensive brainstorming session within each group, ideas were shared during a restitution session. The final discussion focused on the strategic plan for 2024-2029, addressing the document's structure and components. Resolutions were made to establish committees to enhance efficiency and collaboration, and the frequency of meetings was also determined. The meeting concluded with closing remarks from several alliance members, followed by family photos. Sonyuy, the CEO of RADA, we proudly accepted the Golden Award from The Investigator Newspaper for being the "Best All Round C.S.O Leader with Exceptional Push on Non-Communicable Diseases." The Investigator Award team conducted extensive research and was thoroughly impressed by RADA's accomplishments and the significant impact we've made in just four years of operation. Mr. Fai Elvis, president of the Golden Award committee, emphasized our strong team and our capability to address crucial community challenges. It's important to note that the Golden Award recognizes organizations that are making a substantial positive impact in their fields. Hi, fam🤗 On November 14, 2024, the Reconciliation and Development Association (RADA) was invited by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to an Exchange session with young people during the visit to Cameroon the Regional Director of UNFPA For West and Central Africa. RADA was represented by the Sustainable Peace Officer, in person of Nange Hezelle. This session marked the visit of the Regional Director of UNFPA to Cameroon at their head office in Yaounde. It aimed at getting the minds of youths and their work in different community development areas. Youths across the 10 regions of Cameroon were present and had an insightful exchange with the Regional Director. Youths were particular about the need for support, especially capacity building, to do more work. He appreciated the youths for their great work and encouraged them to keep up with the good work and do more work. He further challenged them to Dream big and aim for nothing less than their best.
