Since 2010, Bellen Chemistry has been providing chemistry CRO/CDMO services as an integrated Contract Chemistry Service Organization(CCSO). With years of accumulated technical advantages and experiences in the chemical synthesis of small molecule compounds, Bellen has built a one-stop-shop chemistry service platform, supporting big pharmas, biotech innovators and new drug development institutions for their research programs from discovery to commercial stage through comprehensive chemistry solutions. Our R&D, production, sales and operation teams are based globally, and at present, Bellen has nearly 1,000 employees worldwide, of which the technical team accounts for around 50%. Going forward, we will continue investment in innovation, talent acquisition, capability and capacity to enable an integrated one-stop-shop chemistry service platform by providing our global partners with more open, complete, reliable, and efficient research and manufacturing solutions.

Jiejie joined Bellen Chemistry in 2020 as a group leader of the Medicinal Department. Over the past four years, he has focused on small-scale reactions. His daily work includes designing synthetic routes for new targets, analyzing LCMS data, running complex reactions or workups, assisting the team in problem-solving, and meeting with clients to manage project needs. Jiejie and his team have extensive experience in metal-catalyzed coupling reactions, amide coupling reactions, and C-H functionalization reactions. They stay abreast of new methods and apply them in their projects. The ARD team collaborates closely with the PRD team to understand process requirements, enabling the rapid development of appropriate analytical methods for monitoring reactions and final product testing. Our team has extensive experience in developing analytical methods for chiral compounds and trace residue detection, such as genotoxic impurities (GTIs) and nitrosamine detection. Analytical methods are validated by a team under GMP with QA supervision, adhering to the appropriate phase requirements and ICH norms. During this period, he was responsible for executing specific projects, designing synthetic routes, and communicating with clients. In recent years, metal-catalyzed C-H bond functionalization reactions have captured significant attention among organic chemists. These advancements have led to the development of powerful new bond formation methods. However, transitioning these innovative techniques from research to industry can take time. At our company, we prioritize staying abreast of these new methods and integrating them into our projects to meet urgent client needs. Through this approach, we’ve developed efficient techniques for creating complex molecules. For example, using a simple transient directing group, we’ve achieved metal-catalyzed C-H amination or bromination. This reaction tolerates a wide range of benzaldehyde substrates and, most importantly, exhibits great ortho regioselectivity. This provides a convenient method for synthesizing multiple substituted naphthalene derivatives, which were previously difficult to obtain using traditional methods.
