Celebrating the dedication and vision of pioneering minds in healthcare, the Yan Fuqing Memorial Exhibition, sponsored by United Imaging, officially opened at the Wits Adler Museum in Johannesburg on November 8, 2024. The exhibition honors Dr. Yan Fuqing, a trailblazer in Chinese medical history whose contributions to South Africa’s healthcare sector remain impactful to this day. The event featured Prof. Shi Hongcheng, Director of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Zhongshan Hospital, and Prof. Mboyo-Di-Tamba Vangu, Head of the Nuclear Medicine Department at the University of the Witwatersrand’s Teaching Hospital. Their academic discussions highlighted shared achievements and ongoing progress in nuclear medicine. During the ceremony, Prof. Shi presented Prof. Vangu with Total-Body PET: Prospective Clinical Applications, the world’s first professional book on the subject. Prof. Shi noted, “United Imaging’s first total-body PET/CT has achieved remarkable global success, advancing nuclear medicine and elevating healthcare services in South Africa.” Prof. Vangu expressed gratitude for the four-year partnership with United Imaging, emphasizing its positive impact on healthcare quality and service delivery in the region.
