EU Anti-racism Action Plan 2020-2025

The Commission’s plan to step up action against racism and achieve a Union of Equality.

We need to talk about racism. And we need to act. It is always possible to change direction if there is a will to do so. I am glad to live in a society that condemns racism. But we should not stop there. The motto of our European Union is: ‘United in diversity’. Our task it to live up to these words, and to fulfil their meaning

 - President von der Leyen, European Parliament, 17 June 2020

Common guiding principles for national action plans against racism and racial discrimination

The European Commission strongly encourages Member States to develop and adopt national action plans against racism and racial discrimination in 2022 with close involvement of civil society and equality bodies. To support Member States in their efforts, on March 2021 the Commission established a Subgroup of member States experts which elaborated common guiding principles required to produce effective national action plans against racism and racial discrimination. The common guiding principles are intended to serve as a basis for Member States and facilitate the process of developing and implementing a national action plan. The guidelines were officially published in March 2022
