Here are some highlights that made this year unforgettable: 🎤 Engaging Roundtables and Discussions • Organised a roundtable with His Excellency, the President of the Republic Of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, where business leaders and investment experts weighed in with their views on the island’s image and opportunities, along with the steps needed to boost confidence among international investors for foreign investment to support the economic development of the island. Thanks to Bank of Cyprus, Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB) - Ομοσπονδία Εργοδοτών & Βιομηχάνων (ΟΕΒ), and Deloitte Cyprus for supporting this event. 💼 Career and Professional Development • Brought students from leading UK universities for a career event offering guidance across Law, Technology, Banking, and Consulting in collaboration with leading Cypriot university societies. • Engaged with students at our Cyprus event with Photiades Education, focusing on “Breaking into the UK Job Market,” with support from Bank of Cyprus. • Hosted an insightful session with Deutsche Finance International in Mayfair featuring presentations on real estate private equity. • Organised a networking event with Cypriot Professionals in London, OEB, Bank of Cyprus, and Deloitte Cyprus, where opportunities to repatriate were presented. • Our mentoring scheme is in its 5th year running. 🌍 Fostering Investment Opportunities • Showcased Cyprus’s appeal for Alternative Investment Funds in a London event attended by 120 investment professionals, co-organised with CIFA Cyprus, Invest Cyprus - CIPA and supported by The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (The CISI). 🤝 Strengthening Community Bonds • Partnered with the Cyprus Medical Society UK for a vibrant networking evening that had a charitable purpose. 💻 Celebrating Innovation • Launched the inaugural CITC - Cypriot Tech Network event, creating a platform for tech enthusiasts to connect and exchange ideas, and welcomed the engineers. 🌟 Gratitude and Looking Ahead To all our attendees, speakers, and partners — Thank you for your unwavering support. 🔹 Οι στοχεύσεις μας για το 2025 είναι να διασφαλίσουμε τη συνέχιση της αναπτυξιακής πορείας της χώρας και την σταθερή άνοδο της οικονομίας μας, να διευρύνουμε το διεθνές αποτύπωμα της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας, να ενισχύσουμε την εσωτερική και την εξωτερική ασφάλεια και να προωθήσουμε τις μεταρρυθμίσεις προς αναβάθμιση του βιοτικού επιπέδου των πολιτών και της βελτίωσης της καθημερινότητάς τους. Ασφαλώς, κορυφαία προτεραιότητα παραμένει η προσπάθεια για επανέναρξη των διαπραγματεύσεων για επίλυση του Κυπριακού. 🔹 Στις αρχές του 2025 θα παρουσιάσουμε τις προτάσεις μας για τον φορολογικό μετασχηματισμό της χώρας, ο οποίος κινείται προς την ενίσχυση της μεσαίας τάξης και των κυπριακών επιχειρήσεων 🔹 Η μεσαία τάξη αυξάνεται. Αυξήθηκε ο κατώτατος μισθός, δόθηκε η ΑΤΑ κι αυτό καθοδηγεί και για αυξήσεις στον ιδιωτικό τομέα. Η ανεργία περιορίστηκε στο 5% και οι κενές θέσεις εργασίας αυξάνονται. Έχουμε σχεδιασμό που αφορά τη διεύρυνση της φορολογικής βάσης της οικονομίας. 🔹 Το 2023 είχαμε άμεσες ξένες επενδύσεις 3,5 δισ. ευρώ οι οποίες δημιούργησαν 2.500 θέσεις εργασίας υψηλά αμειβόμενες. Είχαμε τη μεγαλύτερη αύξηση στην ΕΕ στις άμεσες ξένες επενδύσεις 129%. Το 2024 αυτή η τάση συνεχίζεται. 🔹 Επεξεργαζόμαστε ένα σχέδιο για επαναπατρισμό νέων Κυπρίων επιστημόνων από το εξωτερικό, για να αντιμετωπίσουμε το πρόβλημα της έλλειψης επιστημονικού δυναμικού. Ενισχύουμε την αγοραστική δύναμη των νέων και δημιουργούμε πιο γερά θεμέλια για την οικονομία. 🔹 Το 2025 είναι αφιερωμένο στον ψηφιακό μετασχηματισμό της χώρας.Το δεύτερο που θέλουμε είναι να υλοποιηθούν οι μεγάλες μεταρρυθμίσεις που αφορούν την Νομική και την Ελεγκτική Υπηρεσία. 🔹 Αλλάζουμε την χώρα και σιγά και σιγά ο κόσμος βλέπει τα αποτελέσματα και χαίρομαι που υπάρχει κατανόηση από τον κόσμο. Συνεχίζω αυτό που έκανα και στην προεκλογική να πηγαίνω στον κόσμο. 🔹 Η εξωτερική πολιτική έχει άμεση σχέση με την εσωτερική. Αν έχεις θετικό όνομα στο εξωτερικό, επηρεάζει άμεσα εάν θα έρθουν επενδύσεις στην Κύπρο, επηρεάζει άμεσα την εσωτερική κατάσταση, επηρεάζει του μισθούς, την αγορά εργασίας. ▶️ Συνέντευξη στον Φιλελεύθερο της Κυριακής, Μέρος Α’

2024 was the 1st complete year of my tenure as the Chairman of the board of the Research Innovation Fournation, and with the support of the Board of Directors and the exceptional management of the Director General Theodoros Loukaidis we have managed to achieve a major turnaround in breaknecking pace. We have solidified Cyprus’s 10th position for a 3rd year in a row and moved 1 spot above in the Global innovation index now ranking no.27 globally. The Ίδρυμα Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας/Research and Innovation Foundation team has worked hard engaging with more than 200 new customers who have shown interest in our programs, supporting nation wide events such as the European Researcher night while ensuring that the funding available in grants keeps on increasing 2024 was at 47.5m Euro. The number of female lead research projects has increased form 22% to 42% and for the first time in the foundations history we have executed successfully blended finance calls such as Distupt with companies that are showcasing that Cypriot born innovation can thrive abroad. Research excellence is on the rise with private reseach organizations also stepping up to support the leadership established by Public universities whuch have demonstrated exc results 2024 has been the busiest year for the Ίδρυμα Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας/Research and Innovation Foundation with all hands on deck supporting the existing operation but also ensuring that Cyprus thrives through internationalization, and yes, we have made it across Europe, Middle East and Asia and in 2025, we will also internationalize our ecosystem extensively in the United States. We have embraced transparency featuring research grant and innovation grant beneficiaries online on our website and sharing success stories through media outlets, panels and tv. We are not done, and will continue to focus relentlessly in maximising every investment in Research, development and innovation made by tax payers money and commit to learning and improving every day to deliver on the Research and Innovation strategy 2024-2026 entrusted to us by the Council of Ministers.
