On 1st February, CyRIC | Cyprus Research & Innovation Center Ltd took part in Youth Tech Fest Cyprus at The Warehouse by IT Quarter, Limassol, celebrating creativity, innovation, and technology! The first kick-off meeting of the WASIMM Project was held on 15th January 2025 at the Department of Physics, University of Cyprus. The project, coordinated by CyRIC | Cyprus Research & Innovation Center Ltd, brings together partners bialoom and the University of Cyprus to address critical challenges in water safety and public health. The WASIMM project focuses on developing innovative technologies such as Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy and machine learning (ML) to detect harmful pathogens, including coliform bacteria and viruses, in wastewater. These methodologies aim to: ▪️Enable rapid and accurate detection of contaminants. ▪️Protect public health by preventing outbreaks. ▪️Ensure compliance with strict EU water safety regulations. This initiative will advance water quality monitoring, offering efficient solutions for real-time detection of pathogens, even at low concentrations, ensuring safer water for communities.The project is co-funded by the EU within the framework of the Cohesion Policy Programme“THALIA 2021-2027” under the BRIDGE2HORIZON call. #WASIMM #WaterSafety #TeamCyRIC
