Bontrup vessels in action at Maasvlakte 2! 🚢 Our vessels are busy transshipping specially graded rock from the Bremanger Quarry in Norway, destined for fall pipe vessels working on the foundation of Princess Elisabeth Island. An impressive logistical operation, delivering more than 500,000 tons in just 6 weeks! Proud of our team and the seamless collaboration that’s making this project a success. 💪🌍 #bontrup #maasvlakte2 #construction #princesselisabethIsland #logistics #sustainability #teamwork

WISTA International celebrates our milestone 50 Year Anniversary! On the 2nd December 1974, a handful of women in the maritime industry came together for lunch at the Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Pub in London, with a vision and purpose to bring together women in shipping. From a small gathering in 1974 to a global network of over 5,100 members across 62 National #WISTA Associations, this journey exemplifies the transformative power of collaboration and shared purpose. Celebrating 50 years of empowering women in the maritime, trade, and logistics industries is a true testament to the vision, passion, and dedication of our founders, members, and supporters. A special recognition goes to the founders — Margaret Llewellyn, Stella Marks, and Gina (Georgina) Fyffe —whose pioneering efforts laid the foundation for a thriving and inclusive community. Over the decades, #WISTA has not only carved out a space for women in the maritime and trade industries but has also driven progress and innovation across these sectors. Here’s to continued success, growth, and the ongoing evolution of WISTA International as a global force for positive change and equality. May the next 50 years be as impactful and inspiring as the last! Watch our Founders and ExCo highlight the impact of WISTA in the below video. #womeninmaritime #womenintrade #womeninshipping #DEI #diversityandinclusion #womenwhomovetheworld

⚠The Importance of Safety Training on Board Safety is the foundation of every successful shipping company. Proper safety training is essential to protect lives, property, and the marine environment. In our organization we do this in many ways, we have an online training platform where every crew member must log in and go through the training we require, and they can also find a wide range of other training courses on shipping, ranging from equipment and technical training, job training, i.e. mooring operations, medical training and well-being. We have a training programme that we periodically carry out on board, we organise periodic training ashore and, of course, our crews train themselves during drills, safety meetings and on other occasions. 🚨Drills in which we add a number of elements, e.g. medical or accident-related, combinations of fires in unusual locations or evacuation of the injured from a confined space. This, combined with our live training, where we try to make the majority of the training practical, results in the crews being more involved in the training, performing many practical activities, which has an impact on learning, and they will certainly remember more than theoretical learning in a classroom. Why Safety Training Matters:  • Prepares for any emergencies: From fire drills to medical situations, technical failures or abandon ship exercises, training ensures everyone knows what to do in critical situations.  • Prevents Accidents: Awareness of hazards and adherence to safety procedures reduce risks.  • Builds Teamwork: Effective communication and coordination among crew members can save lives and prevent hazardous situations. 🛠 Key Training Topics:  1. Firefighting: Learn to identify, control, and extinguish fires onboard.  2. Medical situations, not only related to an accident but also in case of sudden ilness, they learn how to act, where to find medical equipment and what medicines or remedies to use. Communication with shore and the procedures involved.  3. Confined Space- pre-work procedures, emergency situations, persons responsible for specific actions during work and in emergency situations  4. Working at Height- correct selection of PPE, recognition of risks associated with working at height and, above all, preparation for emergency situations. 📋 How to Stay Ready:  • Attend regular safety drills, on- line and live trainings and refreshers.  • Familiarize yourself with the ship’s layout, emergency exits, and equipment locations.  • Report unsafe conditions immediately. ❗Remember: Safety is a shared responsibility. By staying prepared and informed, you protect not only yourself but everyone onboard. Let’s make safety second nature -because each of us wants to go home at the end of the contract.   Stay Safe! #SMTshipping #SMTacademy #SMTsafetytrainingteam #safetycomesfirst #SafetyFirst

  • The SMT Eureka Shipping Cement Crew Conference took place in Sopot, Poland in November. Lasting two days, it was a good opportunity for crew from various vessels as well as shore-based colleagues to get together and hear presentations on a range of topical issues. Safety issues are always paramount and received a lot of attention. Additionally, delegates heard and spoke about cyber security, IT advances, cargo trends, technical developments and how government changes may impact the industry in various parts of the world.   #SMTShipping #maritime #EurekaShipping #cementcarrier #Sopot

Yesterday at the crew conference and today already on the first line. We are training another crew, consolidating emergency actions and adding more elements helps the crew to understand that the situation will not always unfold as they would like. We teach quick reactions, decision-making and prepare for the unexpected. Such drills with practical medical and technical elements are an important part of SMT Shipping training program. It is an invaluable experience for the crew, especially for cadets we have on board. They are just beginning their journey through shipping. What they learn early on will pay off in the future. Stay safe! #firedrill #abandonthevesseldrill #SMTshipping #SMTsafetytrainingteam #safetycomesfirst #safetyfirst #safetyinstructor
