For the past five years, I’ve seen the language market from another perspective. As a founder. As a contributor to how people around the world communicate with their favourite apps and websites. And I’ve seen how language trends evolve. The world speaks over 7,000 languages, each with unique characteristics. People want to learn and engage in these different languages. Globalization hasn’t (yet) destroyed our desire to communicate in, learn, and understand more than one language. (As you can see in the infographic below.) Therefore, localization isn’t a choice but a necessity for brands. Brands that speak to their audience in their language are bringing together a loyal userbase. The world is multicultural, and languages are the key to reaching new markets. If your brand isn’t localizing, you're missing out. When you speak the language of your customers, you make them feel understood.

String externalization is used to manage a project's text content. This is a vital step to localizing your content and it varies based on the programming language used. Below, we'll take Java as an example, and we'll take you through a step-by-step string externalization process. Step 1: Identify hardcoded strings: ↴ Look for fixed text like error messages or UI labels. These are often hardcoded. Step 2: Create an external file: ↴ Use .properties files to store strings in Java. This allows easy updates without changing the code itself. Step 3: Extract strings: ↴ Move hardcoded text into the .properties file. Replace the old text in code with key-value pairs, like credential.message= "Please input your correct credentials." Step 4: Handle translations: ↴ For multiple languages, create different .properties files (like https://bit.ly/3CSQJGA & https://bit.ly/3EVk5EE) and translate the strings accordingly. Step 5: Test your work: ↴ After making changes, run tests to make sure strings are properly loaded and the application works as expected. Seems like a daunting process? Well, JetBrains Qodana can help with it (among other processes), and we've written a guide to help you use it: ↴ #localization #Java #stringexternalization #Qodana #techtips

Translating your Webflow website? We might have created the best way to do it. Webflow is an incredible tool for designing and managing websites, but when it comes to localization, things can get complicated. 🤔 Manually translating content? That takes too much time. 🤔 Copying and pasting text? Inefficient and error-prone. 🤔 Struggling to keep translations updated? A nightmare for fast-growing websites. If you’re tired of these challenges, Localazy is your solution. Considering the number of websites built on Webflow (15,000/day), it made sense for us to build an official integration to help you make your sites multilingual. Here are some of the benefits of this integration: ◈ Import and export content easily in and from Webflow. ◈ Keep translators out of Webflow’s admin panel for better security and control. ◈ Detect and update translations automatically when content changes in Webflow. ◈ Use AI-powered or professional translations to maintain quality and consistency. ◈ Manage all translations in one place. Want to know how? Check out this guide by Petr Hodný and start localizing your Webflow website in a few clicks. #webflow #webflowplugins #webflowapps #localization #localazy https://bit.ly/413DECh

Want to get more users for your app or website? Then, you shouldn't overlook the Hebrew-speaking market. There are about 9 million Hebrew speakers worldwide (with 5 million native speakers). This means Hebrew is the perfect language to connect with people in Israel’s growing tech industry and other Hebrew-speaking communities around the world such as the US, UK, and France. This short carousel (with a little surprise at the end) takes you through the importance of Hebrew localization. #Hebrewlocalization #localization #translationmanagementsystem #en-to-he

I get it: the world doesn't need another podcast. Or... does it? 🙂 When I first landed at Localazy, Jakub Dubec confessed to me he'd been aching to produce a podcast about expansion, i18n and localization for a while, and suggested that I took on the challenge myself. I initially thought I wasn't the right person. I had been managing the content of a programme that featured two Spanish comediennes for three years, and the topic couldn't be more different than what I was used to. But then my journalistic instinct kicked right in and I couldn't resist... So a big chunk of my 2023 consisted of meeting experts, listening to their tips, and asking questions about stuff I didn't know anything about. Perhaps the world doesn't need another podcast, or perhaps it does if it can help someone along the way. Especially, SMB founders and teams navigating their expansion journeys, or managers who don't really understand localization and need to get the full deets. Or maybe you just want to satiate your curiosity as I did, too. 😉
