    Building software for multiple platforms without multiple codebases? That’s the dream. At Localazy, we needed our CLI to work across Windows, macOS, Linux, NPM, and Docker, but maintaining separate codebases was no longer viable. So, we decided to use Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP): a technology that makes cross-platform development much easier. And it did. → One codebase supports multiple platforms, reducing inconsistencies. → Custom networking improves Windows performance, while macOS has custom integrations. → Every push triggers automated builds, making releases a breeze. We were able to use Kotlin 2.1.10 and automated macOS notarization without a dedicated Mac.     Would you trust a skincare brand just because an ad told you to? Probably not. But what if your best friend raved about how incredible the products were? You’d be curious. You might even give them a try. That’s exactly how LUSH won over Japanese customers. Instead of pushing ads, they opened their factory doors. In 2015, Lush Japan (ラッシュジャパン合同会社 (LUSH JAPAN G.K)) launched behind-the-scenes factory tours, allowing visitors to see how their fresh, handmade cosmetics were made. Their goal was to turn visitors into brand advocates. And it worked. Customers who took the tours shared their experiences, posted about it online, and spread the word to friends and family. Lush found a way to build trust, authenticity, and a community. This word-of-mouth strategy helped them thrive in one of the most selective markets in the world. But for their brand to be worthy of word-of-mouth marketing, they had localized their assets and made custom products for the Japanese market (you can see in the example below how carefully they approached their website localization.)
