This year, our Contemporary Perspectives on New Space (CPO) was all about innovation capital and space exploration – how we as humans will live in space one day. At our two-day event in Milan at the occasion of #IAC24 we invited experienced founders and experts from 35 nations to join us in thinking about macro influences: How we can make space our home and what we need to do and what we shouldn’t.   The duality of a dystopian and utopian futures was reflected in two tours at Pirelli Hangar Bicocca and the guided tour of the Fondazione Prada art collection, which were a real eye-opener. The ATLAS project had a few surprises in store that left us in awe.   Special thanks to Michael Lopez-Alegria, who shared his experiences on his field missions with us and encouraged everyone to be positive about the new, even if we sometimes find it difficult to keep an open mind.   We have carefully curated a journey through the future value chain of space system elements, enabling a successful dialogue at our BarCamp 2024 with VC, PE, and bank representatives. The most promising startup founders and corporate ventures shared with us their vision on space labs, data centers, space healthcare, food, connectivity, launcher and moon lander, up to the spacesuit. These contributors are essential to the Humans In Space Ecosystem, a network of experts from academia, governmental space agencies, medical research and development centers, and the commercial sector, ranging from the United States, South Korea, France, Israel, Germany, Japan, and so on. The 2024 Humans In Space Final Pitch Competition, held in conjunction with the IAC, will be the culmination of the 2024 Humans In Space Challenge.
