Info

The 31st of July is the official day set aside by the African Union to celebrate African Women! Africa's Women's Day focuses on spotlighting the legacy of African Women and aims to honor each of them for their visionary, bold, and pioneering historical achievements and contributions to Africa and world history. Because of the peculiar nature of our history, and the roles of the African woman in it, it is important to raise awareness of the importance and existence of Africa's Women's Day. In commemoration of Africa's Women's Day 2024 which will be held virtually on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, an occasion that has been observed since 1962 yet unfortunately remains unfamiliar to many, we aim to elevate the significance of this day by adopting a more sophisticated approach. The theme for this year is “African Women Rooted in Climate Change Awareness" is a celebration of the remarkable efforts of African women at the forefront of Climate Justice Advocacy. By providing a platform for their stories to be heard, we aim to redefine the narrative surrounding African women and foster an environment that nurtures their aspirations. This year we are going green! And adding our voices to exceptional African Women in the space, to create more awareness about the current climate situation and drive powerful conversations that will encourage and prompt more Africans to take action to create a more sustainable environment. Join us in this inspiring journey as we shed light on the importance of climate change awareness and amplify the voices of African women who are making a difference. Together, let's cultivate a future rooted in sustainable practices and a shared commitment to our planet.

#MandelaDay2024 reminds us of the fact that we all have a role to play in society. As our Founder Mrs. Machel constantly reminds us, we can all contribute meaningfully where we are, and work together with others to transform institutions and societies. Speaking at the Africa Climate Summit last year, she emphasized this message, specifically speaking to women claiming their rightful space in decision making bodies, reminding women that #ITISINYOURHANDS Leila Akahloun Wokedje Homawoo Shiphra Chisha(M.Inst.D),MBA Korkor Cudjoe Bertha Dlamini, EMBA, CPRP Nelson Mandela Foundation The Elders Foundation The Graça Machel Trust Women Creating Wealth Programme Dr. Tukiya Kankasa-Mabula, Dr. Theopista Ntale Sekitto, Deputy Governer Soraya M.
