🎉 Good News Alert: Emissions Down by 8% in the EU! Here’s something to celebrate as we count down to the holidays: The EU slashed greenhouse gas emissions by 8.3% in 2023! 🙌 This is the biggest drop in decades, barring the 2020 COVID year. And get this – emissions are now 37% below 1990 levels, all while the economy grew by 68%. Talk about smashing myths about economic growth vs. climate action! 💚 📊 Highlights from the progress report: Power sector emissions? Down 24%, thanks to wind, solar, and moving away from coal. 🌬️☀️ Industries under the EU emissions trading system cut emissions by 16.5%. The natural carbon sink (think forests 🌳) grew by 8.5%, reversing a 10-year decline. BUT – aviation emissions climbed by 9.5%. ✈️ Not cool. This report reminds us: Progress is happening, but the fight isn’t over. 2023 saw record floods, wildfires, and extreme heat. 2024 Wrap-Up – The Good, The Unexpected, The Sara-from-Home Edition 🏠 Let’s take a look back at 2024 – a year of change, learning, and a lot of laughs (and maybe a few tears). Ready for the highlights? 💥 January: Kicked off sugar-loaded but alcohol-free (well, mostly). 📅 February: Big change – Romy Möslein & Sara Rosenblatt reshuffled their collaboration, tossing some goals overboard. Klausurtagungen? Out. Chaos? In. 🚪 March: Bye-bye Impact Hub Leipzig! Sara realized she’s a hardcore Home Office Queen, so she moved operations (mostly) to her cozy home office. What didn’t make the cut? Our monthly planning and reflections. (We tried, we really did.) But hey, we both love our personal journals for that! ✨ Project love: Despite fewer retreats and big restructures, Romy and Sara still worked together! Projects with Goldschmidt, Leipzig Tourismus und Marketing GmbH (LEIPZIG REGION), Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz, and VKU Verlag GmbH kept us on our toes. 💡 Goals, wins & lessons: 5 new clients instead of 7? Fine, because we adore our returning customers. 🫶 Revenue target? ✅ Hit it. Boom. Spreading sustainability knowledge on LinkedIn & Insta? ✔️ But reality check: 2024 wasn’t the greenest year for many businesses. Here’s to 2025 bringing fresh winds of change. 🌿 Donating 5% of revenue? Oof, not happening. Taxes and surprise costs hit hard. BUT – we’re committing 5% of net income to donations. Human Rights Day – Ending the 16 Days of Activism with Hope 🌍💡 Day 16 of #16DaysOfActivism The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence conclude on a significant day: Human Rights Day (December 10). 🌟 Human Rights Day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. It was a monumental moment in history – the first global articulation of rights that belong to all humans, regardless of gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion, or any other status. 🙌 Key Messages of Human Rights Day: Everyone has the right to live free from violence and discrimination. Gender equality is a fundamental human right – and a non-negotiable one. Justice, dignity, and freedom are not privileges; they are rights. 🔗 Throughout the 16 Days, we’ve shone a light on the grim reality of gender-based violence. That’s exactly the problem. Domestic violence was somehow labeled a “private matter” – but it’s time to pull it out of the shadows and into the spotlight. Here’s the harsh reality: Violence against women happens everywhere, across all social classes. Survivors are often blamed for the violence they endure, facing stigma instead of support. And most tragically, too many people look away. 👉 It’s time to take a stand. Let’s call for a society built on equality and respect. Let’s pay attention, get involved, and make our voices heard. Because this problem isn’t going away on its own – it needs all of us. Here’s what we’re demanding from governments, law enforcement, and media: ✔️ Legal clarity and guaranteed access to protection, help, and counseling. ✔️ Consistent prosecution of perpetrators. ✔️ Mandatory training for police, prosecutors, and courts. ✔️ Full implementation of the Istanbul Convention – an international treaty to combat violence against women. ✔️ Media responsibility to highlight domestic violence as a systemic issue, not an isolated one. ✔️ Solidarity with survivors. The current reality? Counseling centers and shelters are at capacity.
