Developing products at the forefront of Medical High Tech. Read about Paul Klett's journey from a student to a key player at B. Braun New Ventures: I finished my master's in Human Factors by submitting my master thesis titled: “Integration of Nerve Monitoring Signals into Navigated Microscopy for Neurosurgery” Not only was I able to secure a great grade on my thesis but also a role in UX Research and Engineering at B. Braun New Ventures (BBNV)! Throughout my thesis and prior research at BBNV I was able to gain deep insights into the medical field of neurosurgery just as contact to surgeons and OR staff that made this work possible in the first place. I am thankful not only for the support that I got regarding my thesis but also in regards of personal growth. In my time with BBNV, I had the chance to obtain the training certificate “Usability and the Requirements of IEC 62366-1 and the FDA Guideline on applying Human Factors and Usability Engineering to Medical Devices” and gain experience in agile project management as a certified SAFe 6 Scrum Master plus so many valuable insights into the everyday work of a young team with big goals. This step forward in my career and personal life would have not been possible without a bunch of people who helped and supported me. First of all, I want to thank Sebastian Zepf and Peter Heinze for introducing me to the great team of BBNV that I learned to love! A big thank you to Jean Stawiaski, Philipp Simon, Cathrin S. and so many other team members at BBNV! The results of the last year would have not been possible without your support and input. And last but not least I want to thank my Professor Jochen Huber for his steady and valuable support throughout the last year. It was a pleasure to work and learn together with all of you and I am very much looking forward to the next challenges we are going to tackle in Medical High Tech! 🧠 ⚙️

This week, Freiburg is hosting a Global Training on Scaled Agile Development, bringing together representatives from various B. Braun units and countries. It’s a proud moment to reflect on how far we’ve come on our agile journey. B. Braun New Ventures was among the first units to fully embrace agile development, and today, it’s a cornerstone methodology in many innovation projects across B. Braun worldwide. We continuously harmonize methodologies, adapt organizational structures, and shape our culture. What sets B. Braun apart is our holistic approach to agility. While agile practices are often limited to software development and focused on developers, we’ve expanded its application to system projects - integrating hardware and involving every function, from R&D, manufacturing, and quality to marketing, and even management. This inclusive approach allows unlocking new levels of collaboration and execution. As much as we value standardization and continuity, we remain flexible, adapting our methodologies when necessary to ensure success. Agile at B. Braun is more than a methodology; it’s a mindset, a never ending journey of learning, evolving, and sharing expertise to drive innovation and deliver value.

🚀 Closing out 2024 on an exceptional high note. ✨ Twelve months, twelve remarkable highlights—and so many more that can’t be captured here. Yes, there were challenges, but as a team, we faced them head-on.
