🎄 Last week we had another unforgettable Christmas party - and what a party it was! 🌟 🎄 The festivities began in the afternoon with a small Christmas market (the things you can conjure up with Euro pallets, fairy lights and fir branches - our logistics area was barely recognizable) 🎪✨ The smell of freshly made popcorn, mulled wine and lard cookies filled the air as we competed in horseshoe throwing, log nailing and beer mug holding competitions. With live musical accompaniment, of course! 🎶 There was also a delicious feast, we played a Christmas quiz and were enchanted by the performance of sand artist @anna_kehden. 🙌 🎅🎄 With these wonderful memories, we are now starting the contemplative Christmas season and looking forward to everything that is yet to come. Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting the VDMA-Offshore and Shipbuilding Trade Fairs working group. Under the direction of Hauke Schlegel and in cooperation with experts from the industry, exciting topics such as the SMM, international trade fairs such as SMM Inmex India, Kormarine, Europort and Marintec as well as current trends in trade fair marketing were discussed. Special thanks go to our guests from Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH represented by Christoph Lücke and his team - and ECM Expo&Conference Management GmbH with Kristian Schischke and his colleagues, who provided valuable insights and contributions. She began her career with us by managing our intellectual property portfolio, which has grown larger every year. During this time, she also assisted the design department with drawing and type approvals at classification societies and helped translate correspondence from German to English. In 2019, she also took on the responsibilities of health management and data privacy. Nicole, thank you for your tireless efforts! MEPC 82 was held in London last week with a clear focus on the assessment of mid-term GHG reduction measures, resulting in a preliminary draft of amendments to MARPOL Annex VI, to be further discussed in view of approval at the next MEPC in April 2025. While the basket of measures to be adopted is still under development and technologies based on alternative fuels and alternative propulsion concepts are associated with high costs and a low level of maturity, the short-term measures introduced during MEPC 76, namely EEXI and CII, remain valid along with the technologies required to meet these measures. Even if significant savings may not be possible with today’s technology, improvements between 5% and 10% can extend the compliance of the ship for several years! Propulsion-improving devices like the Becker Mewis Duct or the Becker Twisted Fins are still high in demand, with a good return on investment and a simple installation process during regular dry docking. 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲: 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒⚓🌞 It may have been a few days ago, but our summer party on the 𝐋𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐢ë𝐧 mid of September definitely deserves a review - it was just great! 🎉 It started with a fun double-decker bus journey from Hamburg-Harburg, where the atmosphere was as good as the snacks on board. Arriving in 𝐆𝐫ö𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐳, we caught sight of our proud ship, the Loth Loriën, before marching across the pier – ready for the adventure. The 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐰 set sail and proudly hoisted our flag. However, we had to ‘rescue’ Sven with a special shuttle as he somehow stayed ashore. 😅 The day was perfect: 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, delicious (fish) 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬, cool drinks, good 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 and 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫.
