We’re attending #ERTC2024 in Lisbon, Portugal, from 11–14 November. Please stop by Stand No. 57 for information on solutions to optimise refining performance. Our presentation, titled "Detecting Deviations in Refining Units through Machine Learning", will explore the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in improving the operational efficiency of refining units. We’ll demonstrate how unsupervised machine learning can be used to detect deviations in refining processes, enabling proactive maintenance and reducing the need for extensive manual data labelling typically required in supervised methods. I had the pleasure of joining the executive program ‘Haltung’ from Seibert Group | Google Cloud Partner. It was about how organisations manage their transformation challenges. In a pleasant atmosphere, we discussed the three topics people, organisation and technology and their transformation impact. I could gather some impulses for boTec GmbH, Wiesbaden, which will help us to improve our organisation further. Congrats to Seibert Group for such a worthwile event.

Last week, our Wiesbaden office team took part in a comprehensive First Aid training session, designed to ensure we're prepared to handle emergencies both in the workplace and in our daily lives. Led by Deutsches Rotes Kreuz, the training equipped our team with crucial life-saving techniques, including: ・Ensuring personal safety and securing accident scenes ・Managing wound care and severe bleeding ・Providing first aid for unconscious individuals ・Placing them in the recovery position ・Performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) ・Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in cases of cardiac arrest These vital skills empower us to act swiftly in emergencies and potentially save lives. After two days of productive training sessions, it’s already the final day with the BORIS team from BAYERNOIL Raffineriegesellschaft mbH. Today features a workshop on anomaly detection in refinery process data, conducted by Jörg Schneider and Uwe Rupp. They present how machine learning covered in the two-day training can be applied to a real-world use case. In addition, together they are exploring other use cases for AI in the refinery. We are back from the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/XPO in Barcelona from 10th to 13th June, a premier gathering of supply chain leaders. Here are our three takeaways: 1.
