Are so-called internal transactions between the members of a VAT group taxable? The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled on a preliminary reference from the Federal Fiscal Court that internal transactions between parent companies and subsidiaries are not taxable under the German VAT Act (UStG). The ECJ has thus confirmed that the German legislation is not contrary to EU law. Furthermore, it had to be clarified whether the answer to this question is different if the recipient of the supply is not (or only partially) entitled to deduct input tax. We are pleased to have hosted the annual Audit & Assurance III training, which took place from September 30 to October 2, 2024 at our office in Reutlingen. Among the participants were colleagues from our Crowe network and our own experts from RWT Crowe. The training content included, among others, the auditing of inventories, quality assurance in the final audit, the use of data analytics, the auditing of IT systems and dealing with challenging client situations. 💡 During the three-day event, the participants had the opportunity to enjoy a culinary city walk, during which they got to know the city of Reutlingen and its history. 🏙️ The A&A training is a four-level training program, which is organized annually by Crowe Germany members for their employees working in auditing. Due to the massive rise in inflation rates in the post-coronavirus period and the war in Ukraine, the ECB raised its key interest rates ten times in succession between July 2022 and October 2023. Due to declining inflation in 2024, the key interest rate was cut for the first time in a long time to 4.25% in June 2024. At its most recent meeting on July 18, 2024, the ECB Governing Council upheld this decision in order to ensure that inflation returns to the medium-term target of 2.00%.
