Could computer vision manage our warehouses better than we do?    This is one of the questions that led to a scalable solution at our collaborative innovation space, the Enterprise Lab. During manual warehouse processes, there often is a lack of information between shop floor workers and warehouse coordinators.     Our answer: computer vision to bridge that gap. Pallet Vision uses artificial intelligence to track and optimize dock-to-stock cycle times. It creates transparency with which our teams can tackle bottlenecks and better streamline operations.    How did we get there?    We picked up the idea from our warehouse colleagues and developed a prototype, tested it out, and refined it until it qualified as a scalable solution. Once ready for piloting, the new application was installed in one of our warehouses to detect and track all pallets in the inbound area, unlocking new potential in warehouse management. The sale of DB Schenker to DSV - Global Transport and Logistics is one of the largest European privatizations - a decision driven by political and economic priorities. Was it the best decision? Was it the right timing? These are questions for others to answer. However, while opinions might differ, one thing is clear: this change is happening, and it comes with some challenges and many great opportunities. I’m incredibly proud of the DB SCHENKER | STARTup terminal [·] a dedicated team of resilient, professional, and deeply committed people who continue to show up, stay focused, and celebrate every small win along the way. We have grown together as a team and have shown that our strengths comes from each team member contributing to the impact and new opportunities we have created. When we came together in the DB Schenker studio this year we shot a video series that highlights the main story behind our STARTup terminal activities and how we interact within our different roles and responsibilities to drive our projects further. From how we collect pain points, scout solutions, conduct pilots and execute solutions. It all shows how we collaborate with forward-thinking startups and our core organization to shape the future of logistics. For us, this season has been full of great success stories, driven by amazing people, some unforeseen twists and turns and a team that knows where to go and how to move forward in the future. Last week marked again a big milestone in strongly positioning our STARTup terminal in the logistics venture clienting ecosystem.  The second year in a row DB Schenker received the corporate startup stars award for being among the top 100 companies successfully driving corporate startup collaborations with our strategic approaches in venture clienting, venture building and corporate venture capital. This achievement is primarily the result of a great team effort together with the startups following a validated value creation process in which we have already conducted more than 160 pilot projects and transferred over 50 solutions into standard operation since 2016. This clearly demonstrates our way forward in advancing cutting-edge technologies and creating a real impact for our customers and the logistics industry as a whole. In land transport, we prioritize our drivers' safety. At a recent digital roadshow featuring leaders and drivers from the land transport department, we introduced a solution that provides real-time updates on drivers' safety and alertness. This solution ensures drivers remain alert and safe on the road by monitoring their condition in real time and providing timely alerts to prevent potential risks. The event also showcased cutting-edge AI-assisted healthcare solutions. Attendees had the chance to explore these innovations firsthand—testing devices and engaging with interactive demonstrations. The Shanghai office was alive with excitement as everyone experienced the power of innovation in action.
