EARSeL call for SIG chairpersons!   As you know, the Special Interest groups (SIGs) are the places where the main scientific efforts of EARSeL are concentrated. These SIGs form the foundation of the activities of EARSeL and its "raison d'être". They encourage co-operation and foster innovative applications of remote sensing. This call is also an opportunity for EARSeL members to submit a new SIG. The management of a SIG by two Co-chairpersons is also encouraged. Deadline for the submission of applications to the EARSeL Office (secretariat@earsel.org) is April 4th, 2025!

📍 Let's experience it again - summary of the ISPRS, EARSeL & DGPF Joint Istanbul Workshop "Topographic Mapping from Space Dedicated to Dr. Karsten Jacobsen’s 80th Birthday" The event took place from 29-31 January 2025 in Istanbul, Turkey, bringing together over 500 academics, researchers, and industry representatives from 30 countries to share their expertise in the field of remote sensing and topographic mapping. Hosted by Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi, GEBZE Technical University, and Istanbul University, in collaboration with ISPRS - International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, EARSeL, and DGPF, the event featured 15 sessions and over 70 presentations. Distinguished keynote speakers included Dr. Karsten Jacobsen, ISPRS Vice President Prof. Dr. Nicolas Paparoditis, EARSeL Vice President Prof. Dr. Mattia Crepsi, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Habil Christian Heipke, Dr. Stewart Walker, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Kersten, and Prof. Dr. Orhan Altan. A special highlight was the celebration of Dr. Karsten Jacobsen’s 80th birthday, honoring his invaluable contributions to the field.
