👉 https://lnkd.in/epAxwYYH - gleich kostenfrei bestellen! It was a great pleasure to have the winners of the #EinsteinFoundationAward 2024 around the virtual table last week for a conversation about quality in research and its systemic (and personal) challenges. Watch the conversation between Individual Award winner Elisabeth Bik, Brandon Stell, founder of the Institutional Award winner The PubPeer Foundation, Early Career Award winners Helena Klara Jambor and Christopher Schmied (PixelQuality) as well as Dorothy Bishop, University of Oxford (who nominated Elisabeth Bik) and Csaba Szabo, University of Fribourg (who nominated PubPeer). 👉 https://lnkd.in/dNa979RC A big thank you to moderator Jess Rohmann from our award partner, the QUEST Center for Responsible Research and Ulrike Pannasch as the brains behind all award activities! #researchquality #academicintegrity

👉 https://lnkd.in/dbaqB_c2 Fotos: Heinrich Holtgreve

✨ Our paper is published in Green Chemistry (Royal Society of Chemistry)! We present a sustainable biocatalytic process for the one-pot synthesis of Ribose-1-phosphate (Rip1P), a key substrate for the synthesis of new nucleoside-based drugs (e.g., antibiotics). However, its use in preparative synthesis has been hampered by low yields and low selectivity during conventional methods (also reflected in the high price). By coupling a guanine deaminase to the nucleoside phosphorylase-catalysed guanosine (Guo) cleavage, the reaction shifted towards almost complete Guo cleavage. Our cascade approach reduced the need for toxic reagents and purification steps inherent to previous methods, reducing the environmental burden of the route. Big thanks to all the authors: Sarah Westarp, Jonas Barsig, Christina Betz, Amin Dagane, Felix Kaspar, Lena Neumair, Sebastian Kemper, Peter Neubauer, and Anke Kurreck 📄 Please have a read (it is open access): https://lnkd.in/e6XC7wXJ Chair of Bioprocess Engineering-TU Berlin Einstein Foundation Berlin UniSysCat - Cluster of Excellence #biocatalysis #GreenChemistry #nucleosides

Einstein Foundation Berlin hat dies direkt geteilt
🧠 Yesterday, neuroscientist Petra Ritter showcased groundbreaking brain simulation research at the impressive Zeiss-Großplanetarium. 🌌 Using advanced technology, scientists can now capture human brain data and transform it into complex models, creating personalized "brain simulations" with huge potential for healthcare, especially in treating neurological diseases. 🎮 Petra Ritter explained how she turns brain imaging data into virtual ‘avatars’ of patients, with applications from hospital care to education and even entertainment! 🌀 Seeing digital brain activity visualized in 360° full-dome projections was an inspiring glimpse into the future of neurotechnology! 😲 BERLIN SCIENCE WEEK 1–10 NOV 2024 #BerlinScienceWeek24 #FallingWalls #ScienceCommunity #CommonGround Einstein Foundation Berlin Stiftung Planetarium Berlin

„Zukunft ohne #Tierversuche? Wunsch und Wirklichkeit“ - und wir sind mittendrin in der Debatte. Was denken Sie: Werden Tierversuche irgendwann überflüssig? Sollten wir im Sinne des Tierwohls auf gewisse medizinische Erkenntnisse verzichten? Finden Sie die Regularien in Bezug auf Tierversuche in Deutschland streng genug? Nur drei der Fragen des heutigen Abends. Herzlichen Dank an die Expert:innen und alle Teilnehmenden für ihren Input und den respektvollen Meinungsaustausch!
