  • Thanks to the generous financial support of ZEISS Group, we had the wonderful opportunity to present our own booth in the OpenScience Area at the EMC in Copenhagen in August 2024. At the heart of our presentation was the TV MiniSem by ISI/Akashi from 1978. The overwhelming interest in our project, particularly in our restored and fully functional tabletop electron microscope, was truly remarkable and captivated many attendees.   During the event, numerous in-depth conversations took place, especially with Lukas Bochtler and Philipp Hörauf. These discussions highlighted the great interest and enthusiasm for our ambitious endeavor. The high level of expertise and vast knowledge of our team were repeatedly praised in these exchanges. Our goal is to officially open the museum in time for the 100th anniversary of the invention of the electron microscope in 2031, preserving this significant piece of scientific history for future generations.

Did you know? 🤔 The history of electron microscopy is filled with groundbreaking innovations, and at Kammrath & Weiss, we are proud to be part of this ongoing journey. Recently, our CEO, Konrad Weiss, had the honor of visiting the Electron Microscopy Museum in Nuremberg 🏛️—a unique institution dedicated to preserving and showcasing the evolution of this fascinating technology. In the photo, you can see Konrad Weiß alongside the museum’s curator, Lukas Bochtler 🤝. During the visit, they exchanged valuable insights into the rich history of electron microscopy and discussed the continuous advancements that have shaped the field. A special highlight of the visit was the Cambridge Stereoscan S4-10 🔬—the very first series of scanning electron microscopes that Konrad Weiß worked on early in his career. Introduced in 1972, this microscope marked a major leap forward in electron microscopy, combining vacuum tube and semiconductor circuits to offer breakthrough image resolution, giving researchers unprecedented access to nanoscale imaging. At Kammrath & Weiss, we place great value on understanding and honoring the history of electron microscopy to drive future innovations 🚀. By building on the foundations laid by devices like the Stereoscan S4-10, we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in materials testing and research. A big thank you 🙏 to Lukas Bochtler for the inspiring tour and the opportunity to exchange knowledge. 📍 If you’re ever in Nuremberg, we highly recommend a visit to the Electron Microscopy Museum—it’s a journey through the past, present, and future of scientific discovery.
