Yesterday, our Central Office AVIATION had the chance to participate in the annual member’s meeting of the BDLI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V.! Members of the Executive Board of BDLI hosted the following interesting board talks: “Defense & Security” - Dr. Michael Schoellhorn, BDLI President & Martin Kroell, BDLI SME Representative, in conversation with Lieutenant General Günter Katz, Commanding General Air Force Troop Command “#Space” - Marco Fuchs, BDLI Vice President Space and Dr. Michael Schöllhorn in conversation with Dr. Josef Aschbacher, Director General ESA European Space Agency “#Aviation” - Dr. Sabine Klauke, BDLI Vice President Aviation and Dr. Jörg Schuler, BDLI Vice President Equipment and Materials in conversation with Dr. Anna Christmann, Member of the German Parliament, Federal Government Coordinator of German Aerospace The German Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius also held a speech on current challenges in the field of defence and security. Additionally, we were delighted to introduce Fraunhofer AVIATION & SPACE to the new Managing Director of BDLI, Marie-Christine von Hahn! We are happy to be a member of this association and the collaboration opportunities that come with it - it was a pleasure to take part in this amazing event!

This year's Aviation Forum was amazing! ✈️ Not only did we have the chance to make a lot of promising contacts from the #aviation industry - some of our personal highlights were the tech talks by Urs Roemer about “New level of surface protection - optimization of #aerospace production and MRO” and Joanna Steiner about “Integrating the circular economy into aviation: digital platforms and data rooms are driving change in the industry”. Yesterday, we kicked off our week in Bremen with the third EEN-Fraunhofer Space Community Get-together at the #ECOMAT on the eve of the #SpaceTechExpo 🚀 We had a wonderful time with all the inspiring pitches from JELLYSPACE, QuantumPrime, KeplerKoord S.L., ANYFIELDS, Coher Sense, Lamb Space Tec, Phigi, Klepsydra Technologies, ORiS - Orbital Recharge in Space and Inpraise Systems, the keynote talks by Jan-Christian Meyer, Berlin Space Technologies GmbH, and Damian Breu, Fraunhofer Venture, as well as our contributors on the multi-faceted market square and the fruitful discussions. Yesterday, several important stakeholders from the #aviation sector came together in Berlin to celebrate 30 years of project management for aviation research with Projektträger Luftfahrtforschung. Projektträger Luftfahrtforschung has been the central partner for science, industry and ministries in the field of aviation research in Germany for 30 years now. In this context, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft has been part of 217 aviation projects with participation of 38 Fraunhofer institutes ever since 1996, many of which were and are pioneering for the aviation industry. At the anniversary celebration yesterday, the director AVIATION of Fraunhofer AVIATION & SPACE, Prof. Dr. Bernd Mayer, gave insights into some of those exciting projects and also some of our current research focuses for aviation at Fraunhofer, like resource- and cost-efficient manufacturing/production, climate-friendly and efficient engines and energy sources, #sustainable materials and circular economy as well as eco-efficient #aircraft and interior structures. Get to know CubEniK, the ultracompact payload for CubeSats 🌍🛰️ Starting on November 19th, the Space Tech Expo Europe in Bremen will start. Visit our innovative exhibits, including the CubEniK project by Fraunhofer IOF. The CubEniK system is a payload offering highly secure quantum communication from space.
