This week, Nadya Ben Bekhti-Winkel, Anne Drepper and Thomas Loosen are participating in the United Nations World Space Forum 2024 in Bonn, organised by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in collaboration with Germany, Peru and the United Arab Emirates. The theme, "Sustainable Space for Sustainability on Earth", brings together the international space community with stakeholders from politcs, industry, research, and society. It encourages discussions about key topics such as #SpaceDebris mitigation, sustainable space activities as well as lunar explorations. Our highlight is the opportunity to exchange ideas with many SPACE enthusiasts that you wouldn't otherwise meet so often. We are looking forward to the remaining sessions as well as further insightful conversations. Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. Our Deputy Head of Central Office AVIATION Anja Sander also had the chance to attend the visit of the Scottish delegation, representing the activities of Fraunhofer AVIATION & SPACE in the #aerospace sector. It was a pleasure!
🚀 Visit of a Scottish Space Delegation at Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen 🚀 Around 30 Scottish companies and organizations took part in the trade fair Space Tech Expo Europe. To introduce the Scottish delegation in the space activities in Bremen, WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH and Scottish Development International organized a Scottish space visiting programme for the last day of the trade fair on November 21. After the delegation visited Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. and ZARM, a tour at Fraunhofer IFAM followed. First, the activities in the Aviation & Space division at Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen and Stade were presented and demonstrators of a functionally integrated wing leading edge and a barrier-coated H2 tank were shown. During the subsequent tour, the cryogenic testing technology, the laser technology center with the topic of vacuum suction blasting and the paint technology center were presented. According to AVIASPACE Bremen e.V., the Scottish space sector is developing rapidly. Scotland is pursuing the goal of building a complete space ecosystem and is relying on its extensive capabilities with numerous talents, production, research and development expertise, launch services and data analysis. Since 2016, the Scottish space market has seen outstanding growth, averaging over 10% per annum. We were delighted with the visit and the informative exchange. #IFAMdrivesInnovation #Space Fraunhofer AVIATION & SPACE
