Exciting times as the Fraunhofer HHI research project #CampusOS nears its conclusion! After three years of shaping the future of open and modular #5G #campusnetworks for industrial applications, our final roadshow series kicked off yesterday. We began this journey at Topcon Positioning Systems’ location at AP Deutschland GmbH. The series will continue with demos at STILL (February 12, 2025, in Hamburg) and Bosch (February 19, 2025, in Hildesheim). The roadshow will highlight a variety of CampusOS topics with live demos on: ✔️ Nomadic 5G Node (Fraunhofer FOKUS) ✔️ Site Management Suite (TOPCON) ✔️ #ORAN Network Management and Optimization (Fraunhofer FOKUS) ✔️ 5G Open RAN (Node-H GmbH) ✔️ 5G-capable multi-purpose robot platform (Fraunhofer HHI) ✔️ O1 Performance Monitoring (Technische Universität Berlin) ✔️ Neutral Host (brown-iposs GmbH) ✔️ Video Orchestration (Smart Mobile Labs) ✔️ #IoT Sensoring (BISDN GmbH) ✔️ Drive test scanner (Rohde & Schwarz) A special thank you to our hosts at Topcon, Axel de Leve, Raimo Vollstaedt, and Julia Kirchner as well as project coordinators Prof. Thomas Magedanz and Prof. Slawomir Stanczak. Every research project requires a strong support structure to succeed: Huge thanks to Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz for funding CampusOS — especially to Dr. Klaus Glasmacher and Dr. Walter Mattauch, as well as Sabine Hemmerling and Wolfgang Niebel at DLR Projektträger. #Industry40 #robotics

We are thrilled to share this episode of The View Dependent Podcast with our expert Wieland Morgenstern. He talks about his latest paper “Compact 3D Scene Representation via Self-Organizing Gaussian Grids”, co-authored with Florian Barthel, Dr. Anna Hilsmann and Prof. Peter Eisert. The team explores a novel approach: Self-Organizing Gaussian Grids. Using their technique, the researchers can reduce the storage size of 3D scenes modeled with 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) by 20 up to 39 times by organizing the 3DGS parameters into a 2D grid. To do this efficiently, the team developed a new algorithm called “Parallel linear assignment sorting” (PLAS). Moreover, they further enforce local smoothness between the sorted parameters in the grid, making them easier to compress. Reducing the storage size of 3D content is important to make it accessible to everyone. With reduced storage size, immersive 3D applications in areas such as education, entertainment or virtual events can be played on your regular end devices. Get all the insights into the new method here: https://lnkd.in/d3dtDsCy
