It's a traditional Spanish dessert with a rich history. It is believed to be one of Europe's oldest desserts, dating back to at least the 14th century. Paula Lindén of Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions submitted her recipe on October 4th which is "Kanelbullens dag" in Sweden! You guessed it - Kanelbulle means cinnamon buns. ;)  "October holds a special place in my heart," Paula says, "The landscape transforms into a stunning palette of red, orange, and yellow, creating a beautiful backdrop for my son’s birthday." Cinnamon Bun Day is an annual themed day in Sweden and Finland, established in 1999. The day highlights the Swedish tradition of baking at home, with a focus on the Swedish cinnamon bun. Next stop: Japan! Sachiko Morikawa of Vilene Create Co., Ltd. shares her favorite chicken stir-fry with a popular Japanese spice - Sansho pepper. It is also known as Japanese prickly ash and has a distinctive citrusy aroma and a numbing sensation on the tongue. Sansho pepper has been used in Japanese cuisine for centuries, enhancing the flavors of meat and fish dishes. The leaves of the Sansho plant, known as "kinome," are also edible and used as a garnish or in cooking. Let's take a trip to Costa Rica to the family home of Roy Vargas Azofeifa, Human Resources Manager at Freudenberg Medical. Together with his daughter, Sara, Roy enjoys cooking a very traditional Costa Rican dish: Gallo Pinto! The name "Gallo Pinto" translates to "spotted rooster" in Spanish, which refers to the speckled appearance of the rice and beans mixed. The origins of Gallo Pinto are a subject of friendly rivalry between Costa Rica and Nicaragua, with both countries claiming it as their own. Gallo Pinto is more than just a meal; it reflects the rich cultural heritage of Central America, combining indigenous, African, and Spanish influences.
