We wanted to know what it looks like for us at Glow25 – what's in store for 2025? “𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆.” Michelle is fully aware that 2025 will bring a lot of work. But she and her team appear to be 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 for whatever is coming their way. “Are we fully prepared? Yes. Not necessarily because we have every detail mapped out but because we’re already in such a strong position,” Michelle explains. With a solid foundation and a more than capable team, she feels calm and ready to take on whatever comes this year. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲 ❓ A lot of exciting things are planned, although Michelle can’t give too much away just yet, one thing’s for sure: The team is planning to take a more project-based approach with a refined strategy to attract new talents. Michelle will, of course, continue to recruit the best talent for Glow25, but she’s also excited to shift towards more project-driven work. She wants to explore ways to actively communicate and strengthen our employer brand—creating a more prominent presence in the market. 🌟 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁-𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 – “𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲” 🌟 Michelle shared with us some of the challenges she’s faced along the way and how she’s tackled them. - 💪 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 : Things move quickly in start-ups. Before Glow25, Michelle didn’t experience this level of intensity, as previous roles didn’t have the same time pressure or fast pace. Developing and filling new positions at record speed can be challenging. - 🆕 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀:Another new challenge was recruiting for roles outside of Michelle's initial expertise. Coming from the tech industry, she was suddenly asked to source talent for completely different departments. This meant reviewing CVs in new ways, asking different questions, and aligning with the specific needs of hiring managers from various sectors. - 🧑🎓 𝗢𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: As if everything wasn’t already enough, Michelle was also completing a training course for certified HR consultants while managing all of this. 🏆 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 (𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁) 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 – 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 In the past year, we opened several new retail locations in a very short period of time. Except for Berlin, Michelle was in charge of filling every retail position. She shared a few challenges along the way: - 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: Traditional talent sourcing platforms like LinkedIn or Indeed don’t work as well for retail positions. So, new methods had to be found. - 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿?:Without an established retail team, there were no benchmarks for the type of person to look for. Michelle had to build the profile of the ideal candidate from scratch. - 𝗔 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁-𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿: Retail is incredibly fast-paced, and turnover can be high. Michelle often found herself having to recruit again after only a few months when people switched employers. “𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.” No matter the challenge—whether it’s stepping into new areas, working under tight deadlines, or handling large-scale projects—Michelle handles it all with ease and determination. Her motivation? For her, it’s all about seeing teams come together and work harmoniously. 🌟 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 🌟 Last year, Glow25 hired over 100 new team members. A huge part of that success is thanks to Michelle. On a typical day, she might end up conducting four one-hour interviews back to back. 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲’𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 📃 Each of our recruiters structures a bit differently, and Michelle is no exception. From reviewing CVs to conducting the interviews, she has her own approach: - 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱:“It’s really important to ease into the conversation,” says Michelle. Starting of with an easy question helps her get a sense of the candidate's personality and sets a relaxed tone. After all, being able to work professionally but comfortably together is important. - 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵: Giving the candidate an idea of what Glow25 is all about: But the goal here is to gauge the candidate's interest—does the passion for the industry show?” It’s a moment where she can truly feel if the candidate is as excited about the company as we are. - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: Of course, those need to be covered too. Topics like working hours, salary, and other relevant details come into play here. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲? ☝ Are there any particularities to consider, seeing that the interviews are remote. “Not all of us, but many work remotely anyway, that's why it’s actually an advantage,” she explains. “You can really get a sense of how the collaboration might feel in the everyday working environment.” Plus, remote interviews make things easier on both sides—no need for travel, and more flexibility if the schedule needs adjusting." “𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴" Michelle applied to Glow25 because she wanted to work at a company that embraced a modern, open culture. And because she can genuinely connect with the culture, she’s able to share it authentically with candidates, she shares. For Michelle, this is key—it helps her create a relaxed atmosphere during interviews and truly understand if someone fits not only with the team but with Glow’s values and vision. And, of course, a big part of that time is spent interviewing and attracting new talents to join us. But what else does a Recruiting Partner do on a daily basis? 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 Before Michelle dives into the meeting marathon, she kicks off her day with a ‘Recruiting Daily’. The main focus here? Reviewing which positions are still open and planning the next steps with the team to get them filled. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 Right after the daily catch-up, Michelle dives straight into back-to-back interviews with candidates. More on this, later! 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝘄𝟮𝟱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 – 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 🏆 When Michelle first joined Glow25, the recruiting process still needed some improvement. “But thanks to ongoing evaluation in the team and adjustment, we made it into what it is today, while always looking for new ways to better the process", she says. Due to time constraints, she now manages interviews solo. Her primary focus is ensuring the candidate has the right mindset and is in alignment with our company values. 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝘄𝟮𝟱’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 – 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗡𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:Michelle ensures that no application goes unanswered. Every candidate receives feedback. Since then, she has been tirelessly working to bring in new talents for Glow25, ensuring that no job opening or application slips through. With her unique interview style and vibrant personality, Michelle continuously wins people over. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 Michelle originally started in the tech industry and more or less fell into recruiting through a student job. Before joining Glow25, she worked at an agency and, as a working student, took on full responsibility for recruiting at her previous employer. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 ❓ “I used to be terrified of interviews,” she admits. Interviews can be nerve-wracking , and for Michelle at times, that was no different. It's exactly what she wants to change, being a recruiter herself. “Interviews should leave people feeling positive and confident,” she says. “𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗼𝗳.” To make this a reality, Michelle has developed her own approach to building a recruiting process and conducting interviews that make candidates feel at ease. Founded in 2018 by Silke and Isabella, LebensHeldinnen empowers women during a unprecedentedly difficult time. - 🌟 𝗗𝗮𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮 𝗲.𝗩. Our November donation went to DaMigra e.V., an independent organisation advocating nationwide for the interests of over 60 migrant women’s organisations. They work tirelessly to amplify their voices in politics, media, and business. - 🌟 𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗚𝗔𝗥 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗲.𝗩. Our most recent donation went to GARGAR Charity e. V., an organisation founded by Fatuma Nabosu to fight female genital mutilation. These organisations share a common mission: to make our society a safer place for women and children. They deserve not only our recognition but also our unwavering support. Their unwavering commitment to fighting loneliness in old age is truly inspiring. For Freunde alter Menschen, the guiding principles are clear: - 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲. 🦄 - 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻, 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀. 🌎 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻? This is why Freunde alter Menschen offers a diverse range of activities and programmes, tailored to meet individual needs. 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗲𝗻 – 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 ☀️ In October this year, we were honoured to support LAND-GRAZIEN, an organisation providing support for women and children who have experienced violence. According to Statista, in 2024, nearly every day a woman or girl was killed because of her gender. A UN study shows this trend is on the rise! 🚨 This makes the work of organisations like Landgrazien even more crucial. They are dedicated to ensuring that all women and children, regardless of nationality, religion, or social status, can live in a society free from violence. 🙌 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 🤝 Landgrazien stands on three key pillars: - 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: The belief that everyone possesses an inner strength, which needs to be rediscovered. Landgrazien supports women in reclaiming this strength and standing up for their needs. - 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: True empowerment comes from the individual’s willingness to discover their own needs. 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘂𝗽: 𝗞ä𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗳𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻 – 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 ❄️ In October 2023, Lavinia took over the Glow Purpose Project, giving it a clear direction. 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 – 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 (𝗢𝗹𝗱-𝗔𝗴𝗲) 𝗣𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 💫 As we age, it becomes increasingly difficult to earn a living wage that covers basic living costs. Once we reach retirement, this doesn't get any easier. A minimum minimum pension not added with personal savings often renders living a dignified life after retirement difficult. With the new focus of the Glow Purpose Project, Glow25 now aims to help change that. 𝗞ä𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗳𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻 – 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 A pension that’s too low can force retirees into homelessness. Last October, we made our donation to, 𝘒ä𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘧𝘦 𝘉𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘯 an organisation that’s been providing homeless individuals with emergency shelter during the cold winter months since 1989. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗔𝗹𝗹 ❗ 𝘒ä𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘧𝘦 𝘉𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘯 has launched a winter aid programme in collaboration with various associations, charities, and initiatives, offering: - Emergency shelters 🏠 - Night cafés ☕ - Soup kitchens 🍲 - Social meeting points 🤝 They also provide a platform for people who want to help, allowing volunteers to register on their website. 🌐 Without regular donations, this vital work wouldn’t be possible, and we are incredibly grateful that we were able to support 𝘒ä𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘧𝘦 𝘉𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘯 last year. As we enter December, we’re once again in the coldest months of the year. While some are wrapping up their year, the true challenges are only just beginning for others.
