Did you know that dialysis, a crucial treatment for kidney failure, consumes an enormous amount of water? Here's why this matters: 💡 In Germany alone, ~80,000 people need dialysis 3 times a week 💡This requires up to 100 million liters of fresh drinking water weekly* 💡That's equivalent to 40 Olympic-sized swimming pools 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺? 👉 Water scarcity is increasing globally 👉 High water needs limit dialysis availability in some regions 👉 We need to ensure dialysis becomes and remains accessible for future patients worldwide 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼? 👉 Digitize processes to gain clarity on individual water consumption in dialysis centers to enable data-based decision-making. 👉 Optimize Reverse Osmosis System’s settings based on data. 👉 Implement water-efficient Reverse Osmosis machines. 👉 Explore water recycling options. 👉 Invest in research for more water-efficient treatments. Let's work together to make life-saving dialysis treatments more environmentally friendly and accessible worldwide, ensuring patients can receive this vital treatment now and in the future. #GreenDialysis #SmartDialysis #WaterManagement *Number based on our own surveys. Water consumption varies considerably between different centers.

On the occasion of Universal Health Coverage Day, the International Society of Nephrology shared an excellent summary of the challenges connected to kidney health. You might also consider signing the petition. While health coverage is essential, education for prevention is another crucial pillar for sustaining kidney health. Disease prevention is the most sustainable action we can take in this matter. #GreenDialysis #HealthCare #DiseasePrevention
Today, on Universal Health Coverage Day, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring health for all. Yet, millions worldwide face barriers to accessing the care they need. 💡 Kidney Health Must Be Part of the Solution: ➡️ Over 850 million people live with kidney disease worldwide. ➡️ Nearly 4 million depend on dialysis (80%) or transplants (20%) to survive. ➡️ 2 million lives are lost annually because dialysis is unaffordable or unavailable. ➡️ Over 95% of people with kidney disease face additional health challenges, yet critical workforce shortages persist in kidney care globally. Without action, millions will continue to suffer catastrophic healthcare costs, driving them further into poverty. 🚨 Our Call to Action: We urge governments and global health leaders to prioritize kidney care as part of universal health coverage. It’s time to invest in equitable, accessible, and sustainable health systems to protect the most vulnerable. 📢 Join the Movement: Sign our petition to advocate for kidney care as essential to universal health coverage: https://ow.ly/OcvH50TLOrS+ Together, we can create a future where no one is left behind. 🌍✨ #UHCDay #UHC #HealthForAll #KidneyHealthMatters #UniversalHealthCoverage

🌟 Wrapping up 2024 with our quarterly team meeting! 🌟 As the end of the year approaches, we’re gathering for our last GreenTec Dialysis GmbH quarterly get-together before the holiday season. These meetings are special: a chance for us to step away from our remote work setup, connect face-to-face, and discuss key strategic topics while celebrating our collective journey. This gathering marks our second full business year. It’s not just a review of the past quarter but a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished together in 2024. But above all, it is the personal meeting and the time spent together at the end of the year. This is a time for team building, laughter, and creating lasting memories before we head into the festive break. 💚 Here’s to our amazing team and the moments that make it all worthwhile! #Teamwork

Do start-ups mainly work remotely? At least we do. While we have co-working spaces in Heidelberg where some of our team enjoys working in the office, the majority of our team operates remotely. Around 50% of our team members work in the field, coordinating tasks and overseeing projects at various construction sites or installing software in dialysis centers across the country. However, we believe it’s important to come together in person. Every three months, we hold team meetings to discuss strategic topics, share important updates, and enjoy quality time together. Why have we chosen this model? 👉 Access to talent: We want to hire the best people for the job, regardless of their location. This approach allows us to expand our talent pool beyond local candidates. 👉 Nationwide operations: Our partnerships with dialysis centers span the entire country. This makes travel a necessity, regardless of our official office location. Is this model the right fit for everyone? Some individuals may find remote work more challenging. This model requires a higher level of self-sufficiency and self-organization, especially in our low-hierarchy environment. Not everyone prefers connecting primarily through video or phone calls. We appreciate the flexibility this model brings to our team members. We recommend that everyone consider their individual preferences when evaluating whether this working model aligns with their needs and expectations. This week we’ll meet for our Q4 quarterly, and we’re looking forward to spending two days together before our Christmas break. #RemoteWork #WorkingCulture

No time to waste? ⏱️ At GreenTec Dialysis, we live by a simple but powerful principle: “No time to waste.” It’s more than just a slogan; it’s the driving force behind our work. In a world where resources are becoming scarcer and humanity's negative impact on our planet is more evident than ever, we know that the time to act is 𝑛𝑜𝑤. Our mission is to transform our industry, the dialysis sector, for the better. We help our clients optimize their operations, saving precious resources like energy and water. This not only protects the environment but also translates into cost savings for our clients—a true win-win scenario. 🤩 Our commitment to “No time to waste” is not just about urgency; it’s about efficiency, innovation, and action. Every moment we spend making our services better, every new solution we develop, is a step toward a future where sustainability is second nature and economic success is aligned with environmental health. Saving resources in the dialysis treatment offers social benefits, too: by reducing drinking water usage as far as possible, it would be possible to create access to the life-saving dialysis treatment for more people worldwide. This is still a huge challenge we must solve in our industry. 🤝 We believe that there’s no room for delays when it comes to sustainable progress. We want to have a positive impact on our sphere of influence. And that’s why we don’t have time to waste. What drives you to take action? #NoTimeToWaste #GreenDialysis #GuidingPrinciple

Many people talk about the circular economy. Fewer understand that this also applies to water management.💧 It should be done circularly, too. Drinking water is one of our most valuable resources. We should be very thoughtful about how we use it. Dialysis has a gigantic water footprint. That's why it's important to work on circular water management, as highlighted in a study published in Kidney International. Here are some activities we can implement through the 3Rs in the dialysis sector: 1️⃣ Reduce: - Optimize equipment water consumption - Implement water-efficient dialysis machines - Train staff on water-saving practices - Use smart monitoring systems 2️⃣ Reuse: - Collect reverse osmosis reject water for cleaning or flushing toilets - Collect and treat dialysis rinse water for agricultural purposes 3️⃣ Recycle: - Closed-loop water management systems (not yet existing) - Sorbent dialysis systems At GreenTec Dialysis GmbH we're primarily focused on the 'Reduce' part of the 3Rs. However, it's in the interest of healthcare providers, dialysis centers, and communities to think more broadly about circular methods. 🚰 How can we all contribute to more sustainable water management in healthcare? #GreenDialysis #CircularWaterManagement #SustainableHealthcare Source: Water implications in dialysis therapy, threats and opportunities to reduce water consumption: a call for the planet.
