At DOUGLAS, we celebrate Valentine’s Day with an international 360-degree marketing campaign under the slogan “Beautiful Valentine’s Day – Show Your Love”. Our goal is to celebrate the authenticity of love and affection in its many forms. Our campaign invites the audience to become silent observers, witnessing how different people express their affection in unique ways.     Financial results: The DOUGLAS Group kicks off 2024/25 with solid growth We started into the new financial year with a solid first quarter – despite an exceedingly challenging environment with softening consumer sentiment in many European markets and against a very strong prior-year quarter. In the peak season and final months of the year 2024, we continued to grow profitably, substantially improved our net income and achieved major progress in the implementation of our growth strategy #LetItBloom. 📈 Our growth path continues We increased Group sales by 5.8% to around 1.65 billion euros, driven by our successful omnichannel model and both stores (+5.7%) and E-Com (+6.2%). Looking only at our core business by excluding the sold-off online pharmacy Disapo, Group sales stood at +6.5% and E-Com at +8.3%. All segments contributed positively to this development. Following a strong start in October and November with Singles’ Day and Beauty Friday, sales momentum slowed down in December and remained soft into the first weeks of the new calendar year. Our growth remains profitable: Adj. EBITDA grew 1.5% to 353.5 million euros and reported EBITDA was up 9.9% to 350.1 million euros. EBITDA adjustments decreased by 88.5% and we expect adjustments to remain low going forward. 📊 Great progress in net income & deleveraging Our improved financial profile clearly bears fruit: As a result of a strong operational performance, significantly reduced interest expenses and the aforementioned lower adjustments, we grew our quarterly net income by 30.2% to 163.0 million euros. We also continued to deleverage our balance sheet with a leverage ratio of 2.3x as of 31 December 2024, moving closer to our goal of around 2.0x at the end of the calendar year 2025. Our NWC improved slightly as well and decreased by 0.1ppts. from 5.5% to 5.4% (Ø LTM as % of sales). 🎯 We are on track in implementing our strategy We have achieved several milestones in the execution of our growth strategy “Let it Bloom” across multiple pillars. With 20 new own store openings between October and December 2024, we continue developing our store network and have now exceeded the mark of 1,900 stores across 22 countries in Europe. By exclusively distributing the haircare brand TYPEBEA by Rita Ora as early as next week, we demonstrate our commitment to building an outstanding assortment both offline and online. And with not one, but two new omnichannel logistics centers set to ramp up in 2025 – in Poland and Italy – we ensure our supply chain is designed for the future. Our full year guidance remains unchanged: We expect sales to increase to 4.7 billion euros to 4.8 billion euros in the financial year 2024/25. Adj. EBITDA can be expected at the lower end of the range of 855 to 885 million euros. Average Net Working Capital is expected to amount to less than 5% of total Group sales in 2024/25.     𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗡𝗢𝗖𝗜𝗕É 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆!💄 Our French colleagues at NOCIBE, have joined a national alliance of 11 French companies to explore a deposit system for cosmetic products. This alliance, driven by Circul'R, consists of nine brands and two retailers and aims to research opportunities and challenges of introducing a deposit system for cosmetic products. ♻️ In mid-January, NOCIBÉ launched its first pilot project named ‘la boucle beauté’ as part of the initative in France. In the next few months, 22 NOCIBÉ stores in Northern France are collecting empty product packaging of participating brands to gain valuable insights into the customer perceptions of the initiative and to identify potential challenges. At DOUGLAS DACH, we have switched from our iconic mint-colored B2C shipping boxes to natural brown packaging, which now consists of the highest possible share of recycled paper. 📦 We're committed to reducing our environmental footprint and supporting a greener future. Our new B2C shipping boxes are made from 81% to 85% recycled paper, depending on the box size. By moving to these sustainable boxes, we’re significantly cutting down on CO₂ emissions and saving water. Veit Weiland, CEO DOUGLAS DACH, highlights the impact: “With more than 11 million E-Com orders shipped to our customers in the DACH region in the financial year 2023/24, moving to more sustainable boxes has a big impact for us. Although our mint boxes have become something of an icon, the decision to switch to a more sustainable alternative was a natural one for us.
