🚢 The Atlantic Star in Hamburg 🚢 The ship that is one of the world’s biggest ConRo vessels recently docked at our HHLA terminal UNIKAI, the largest facility specialising in rolling cargo in the Port of Hamburg. After an extensive refit, the 296-meter-long vessel can now carry 3800 containers and accommodate 1300 vehicles, along with oversized and heavy ro-ro cargo. With spacious decks, it is built for flexibility, transporting everything from cars, SUVs, large vehicles to heavy or bulky cargo. Together with its five sister ships, the Atlantic Star, operated by Atlantic Container Line, regularly sails between Northern Europe and the American East Coast, with weekly departures from Hamburg. A complete round trip takes around 35 days. 🌍 And did you know? Both our UNIKAI terminal and Grimaldi, acting as Atlantic Container Line's agent, use heyport for their 'digital handshake' to plan vessel calls well in advance. #ThePowerofNetworks #HHLA #logistics #cargo 📷 Port of Hamburg, Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V.

Bonjour from Valence! 👋🏻 As part of her dual studies in Marketing & Digital Media with HHLA, Chantal is currently spending a semester abroad in France. Studying abroad is a core part of HHLA’s dual study program, supported as an invaluable opportunity to develop intercultural skills, expand your network and bring fresh perspectives into the training. #ThePowerofNetworks "In addition to my courses, where I’m learning more about digital marketing, I’m constantly stepping outside my comfort zone by engaging with the local community and practicing French daily. Outside of classes, I’ve joined other Erasmus students in exploring the beauty of this region — from scenic hikes to fascinating museums, there’s no shortage of inspiration here." Chantal will spend a total of four months in France, attending lectures at the University IUT Valence, where she’s expanding her knowledge in digital marketing and deepening her language skills in French. "The time here passes at just the right pace, allowing me to embrace new adventures and have meaningful and inspiring conversations with new people here. I can already feel how valuable this international experience is for personal growth, gaining new perspectives and enriching my outlook on life." #HHLA #studentlife #studyabroad

When container gantry cranes travel 🤩 The sight of the massive cranes arriving at the Port of Hamburg the Zhen Hua 27 is nothing short of awe-inspiring! The new container gantry cranes that will be installed at our Container Terminal Burchardkai, are among the most modern in the world. They are capable of handling ships with a capacity of up to 24,000 standard containers (TEU). Each of the two cranes stands 80 metres tall, spanning a total of 26 container rows 🌉 With their immense size and power, these cranes provide maximum flexibility for handling even the largest container vessels. The arrival of these state-of-the-art cranes marks a key milestone in the comprehensive modernisation of our Container Terminal Burchardkai. And that's not all! By 2026, three more cranes of this size will join the fleet, further boosting our ability to handle Ultra Large Container Vessels. ⚙️💪 #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #logistics

🚛💚 Breaking New Ground in Green Transport: Our intermodal subsidiary, METRANS Group is taking a leap towards a cleaner, more sustainable future with the first hydrogen-powered truck in operational service in Slovakia. In partnership with Mobility & Innovation Production (MIP), METRANS is testing this cutting-edge vehicle as part of our commitment to offering climate-neutral container transport. 🌱 METRANS will initially be deploying the hydrogen-powered truck for Slovak transport within our extensive European logistics network and conducting comprehensive testing. Compared to other electric trucks, the MIP truck offers an impressive range of 600+ kilometers on a single tank. 🚚💨 As part of the test drives, the truck will be fueled exclusively with hydrogen from renewable energy sources. In addition to energy-efficient electric and hybrid locomotives and electric container gantry cranes, e-trucks have been part of METRANS' eco-friendly fleet since 2022 and are now complemented by the hydrogen-powered truck. 📷: METRANS #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #hydrogen #sustainability

🌍💚 What does it take to build a green hydrogen economy? 💚🌍 Our colleague Karin Debacher, Head of Hydrogen Projects at HHLA, recently shared her insights on this question in the documentary ARD Wissen. Taking the cameras behind the scenes at our Container Terminal Tollerort in Hamburg, she offered a closer look at our hydrogen testfield. The Port of Hamburg plays a crucial role as a hub for hydrogen imports, with plans to become fully decarbonised by 2040. By then, all terminal vehicles and equipment are to be powered by green energy from electricity or hydrogen. But how exactly is hydrogen transported, and what challenges lie ahead in building a sustainable hydrogen economy? 🚢⚡ Check out the documentary to learn more about the future of clean energy in logistics and beyond ✨ 🌱 Link below 👇 #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #logistics #hydrogen
