Hopfen kennt man vor allem aus der Bierherstellung – doch jetzt zeigt die Pflanze Potenzial als nachhaltiger Baustoff. Die Pflanzenreste aus der Hopfenernte bieten hervorragende bauphysikalische Eigenschaften und könnten in Zukunft für Dämmstoffe, Akustikplatten und Baupaneele genutzt werden. Das Start-up HopfON entwickelt bereits erste Produkte aus Hopfen, die nicht nur kreislauffähig sind, sondern auch ganz ohne künstliche Zusatzstoffe auskommen. Welcome HopfON, a 🇩🇪 Bavarian project that promises to revolutionise the construction industry by turning hop waste -one of beer's key ingredients- into construction materials like acoustic insulation panels. A proud finalist of the 🇪🇺 2024 NEB Prizes for shaping a circular industrial ecosystem, HopfON bridges the gap between agriculture and construction, paving the road to a circular ecosystem that benefits both industries. 🌱 Scaling up HopfON's game-changing materials could significantly reduce CO2 emissions and agricultural waste, introducing a cost-effective recycling solution.
