As air pollution regulations tighten, staying compliant can become increasingly challenging. The World Health Organization’s (WHO) updated guidelines for key pollutants — PM10, PM2.5, SO2, NO2, CO, and O3 — will soon be reflected in the European Union’s Air Quality Directive. HORIBA is proud to take part in the #LifeNEEVE program, an initiative aimed at reducing non-exhaust emissions, including particulate matter and microplastics from vehicle brakes, tires and road surfaces.   As part of the project, HORIBA will develop an onboard system to measure particle numbers and particulate matter, advancing the understanding and control of Non-Exhaust Emissions (NEE).    Funded by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency under the EU #LIFEProgramme, the initiative runs from 2024 to 2028 and aims to improve air quality and public health while supporting regulatory efforts in road transport.
