Updates

  • Project update | Omaya 50 Last week, a significant milestone was reached at the Elica yard—the deck was successfully joined to the hull. With this step completed, the focus now shifts to the next phase: outfitting. This year at iYacht, we have been working on 9 catamaran projects. Among them is the Omaya 50, whose launch date is approaching soon. • LH10 Houseboats | Lankenauer Höft iYacht played a pivotal role in the development of the Lankenauer Höft project in Bremen: the perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. The LH10 are 16-meter-long houseboats offering 98 m² of modern equipment and stylish design. They feature a fully equipped kitchen, spacious bow and roof terraces, as well as modern amenities such as smart TVs, underfloor heating, showers, and a sauna. From the very beginning, iYacht supported the project through the design development phase and worked closely with authorities to secure approval for the integration of the houseboats into the commercial harbor. Our involvement also extended to the structural design and assessment of the floating units, as well as creating detailed solutions for their production. The German company Kiebitzberg® Gruppe was responsible for the construction of the houseboats. The project presented unique challenges, particularly because these floating units are installed in a commercial harbor, where tidal effects are much more pronounced than in typical marinas. To accommodate the 4.14-meter tidal variation, long dolphins were used to maintain the stability of the boats. Additionally, an 18-meter-long bridge was constructed to compensate for the water level differences, ensuring access to the houseboat during both high and low tides. The arrangement of the boats relative to the jetty is designed in such a way that the boats are optimally aligned with the sun, maximizing natural light. Additionally, the large glass windows of the houseboats allow for an unobstructed view past the neighboring boats, offering a more open and pleasant living space The success of the project owes much to the expertise of the team we assembled at iYacht to oversee it: Veit Spohr, Dennis Bull, and, of course, our CEO Udo A. Hafner, who provided invaluable insight, drawing on his 15 years of experience in houseboat design and floating structures. Did you know that Udo Hafner, together with the editor-in-chief of BOOTE, co-authored a comprehensive book on houseboat design? This book covers everything from initial planning and technology to hull shapes and the process of obtaining CE approval. #houseboat #houseboot #floatinghouse #floating #engineering #LankenauerHöft

  • Kiel Classic Outrageous 28 What is outrageous? The dictionary defines it as “exceeding the limits of what is usual, remarkable; highly unusual or unconventional, fantastic, shocking.” Our interpretation of this word is the combination of audacity and elegance. The Outrageous 28 is built upon classic lines but carries an adventurous, daring spirit. We designed it with features that make this boat truly remarkable. One of the most striking features is the T top. At first glance, its design is minimalistic, but upon closer inspection, the sleek silhouette reveals an aerodynamically refined structure. The chosen shape is inspired by the drop, which, as nature teaches us, is the most efficient form from an aerodynamic perspective. Two retro-inspired windshields stand resolute, shielding the helmsman from water when cruising at high speeds. This unique boat can reach more than 40 knots. Her design is rooted in the classic Kiel 28, with which the Outrageous shares the same flared bow and hull lines. However, she has been reimagined with a new identity that transcends the ordinary. The Kiel Classic Outrageous is an outstanding boat for the connoisseur looking for the exceptional. This high performance boat is designed and built to the highest standard of the “Made in Germany” approach. • Chiron 54 | Simplicity, safety, and seaworthiness Chiron 54 is a sailing vessel designed and engineered to train sailors in navigation skills. This concept is named after Chiron, a renowned mentor in Greek mythology, known for shaping many heroes, including Hercules, Achilles, and Jason. A good training vessel should prioritize simplicity, safety, and seaworthiness, and the Chiron 54 excels in all these aspects, allowing trainees to experience a variety of sailing conditions safely. Inside the boat, we have created an open layout to facilitate communication among crew members. The cockpit, kitchen, salon, and navigation area are all connected, fostering collaboration. The central pantry serves as a meeting place, while the large navigation table offers views of the rigging, the sea, and the cockpit. The spacious cockpit accommodates the entire crew. Chiron’s centralised winch platform and streamlined rigging make manoeuvring straightforward, enhancing hands-on learning opportunities. The boat features a range of easy-to-use, high-quality technical setups, including: - A robust aluminium rig positioned further aft, suitable for large, non-overlapping headsails. - A removable cutter stay that provides flexibility in various sailing conditions. - Halyards and trim lines can be operated from the cockpit - Life rafts are easily accessible and deployable from beneath the cockpit benches. Overall safety is enhanced through key design choices, such as ample freeboard, safe walkways, and a modern hull that provides excellent stability and a low centre of gravity. #chiron54 #iyacht #trainingvessel #sailing #sailor #training Length Overall: 17.31 m Hull Length: 16.50 m Waterline Length: 15.89 m Beam: 5.00 m Draft: 3.00 m Displacement (light): 18.0 t Sail Area Upwind: 180 m² Sail Area Downwind: 350 m² CE Design Category: A Engine: ±75 kW

  • iYacht’s design | Sportfisher 20   The 20-meter convertible Sportfisher 20, designed by iYacht, is a sleek and agile vessel that balances performance with comfort, making it the perfect companion for sportfishing enthusiasts. Its exterior showcases all the hallmarks of a classic sportfisher: a flared bow, high bulwarks, and an open flybridge. These elements not only lend the boat a distinctive profile but also make it highly functional for fishing. At the stern, a spacious cockpit features a fixed chair, perfect for handling the catch, while the low, uncluttered design brings the action close to the water, offering easy access to gear and a clear view of the catch as it's reeled in. The wide deck is designed to cater to serious anglers, with plenty of room for activities, including rod holders, a bait station, and ample storage for all necessary equipment. Ascending the stylish stairs—easier to navigate than those found on traditional sportfishing boats—you reach the flybridge. Here, the wheelhouse provides a commanding view of the water, while at the front, a solarium offers a relaxing space for those on board who are not actively fishing to enjoy the cruise. For those on board watching the action unfold, the higher vantage point provides a clear view of the water, helping to spot where the fish might be lurking below. The Sportfisher 20 streamlined hull is designed for efficient navigation, ensuring both speed and stability in various sea conditions. Large windows along the hull flood the cabin with natural light, creating an airy, comfortable space below deck. Built for range, comfort, and excellent seakeeping abilities, the Sportfisher 20 is the ideal vessel for deep-sea fishing adventures—a true dreamboat for anyone passionate about sportfishing. • Design & Engineering by iYacht: OMAYA 50 The construction of the first OMAYA 50 is under process. We can’t wait to see this 50ft catamaran in the water. In this video, Will Miller and Andrew Holland, CEO and COO of The Multihull Company, travelled to the yard to inspect the highly anticipated Omaya 50 Power Catamaran. The Omaya 50 is a power catamaran meticulously designed from scratch and tailored specifically for its propulsion system. Unlike many power cats, which are essentially engine-powered versions of their sailing counterparts, the Omaya 50 has been conceived and engineered from the ground up as a power catamaran. Every aspect, from the hull to the systems, has been developed accordingly for optimal performance, taking into consideration its powerful propulsion. This project is just one of the many multihull projects in which iYacht has been involved in recent years.
