Do you wonder how carbon yachts are made? And how the first ZEN50 hull production looks like? To satiate your curiosity, here is a 3 minute timelapse of the first 3 months of production. Every minute represents 1 month of careful and passionate craft by our Production Team. They have poured their heart into this yacht and we are happy to share this little snippet of carbon fibre yacht building craftsmanship with you! In this video, you will see the fabrication of the wave cutter and of the hull skin until the infusion is completed (you can see the resin flowing through the starboard side of the hull toiwards the end of video). The thin film covering the boat in the last third of the video is to maintain constant temperature while resin cures. Last week was all about large sailing yachts. Sometimes, coincidences happen. At AMPROS, we’ve been working intensively on the preliminary engineering for three large sailing yachts, all with similar briefs and shared visions. I recall a few years ago, during a conversation at VRIPACK DESIGN, when we first discussed a project like this—before it even went public. Then, last year, at the Vripack Night just before METSTRADE, the concept was introduced with a few exciting details. Today, it’s really starting to take shape and gaining recognition. I am talking about project zero, that is under construction at Vitters Shipyard . Cant wait to see it sailing. Both owners and shipyards are increasingly seeking these kinds of solutions—where long-distance sailing in comfort is combined with zero-emission technology. An impact reduction rule limiting harmful emissions in boat construction has been the major goal of the sustainability work that IMOCA has been conducting over the last four years and now it is being implemented. At this week's Annual General Meeting of the Class in Lorient in Brittany, the skippers and teams formally endorsed a new regime that will require all new boat builds in IMOCA undertaken between 2025 and 2028 to reduce harmful emissions by 15%.
