We would like to celebrate a special milestone in the career of our esteemed colleague Dr. Cindy Nie from Jowat China Adhesives. After 20 years of dedication and outstanding performance, she is now entering her well-deserved retirement. Dr. Cindy Nie earned her PhD in Chemistry in Germany and began her Jowat career in 2005 as the General Manager of the Jowat representative office in Beijing. With the establishment of Jowat (Beijing) Adhesives Co. Ltd. in 2010, she took over the management there. In 2022, she successfully oversaw the founding of Jowat China Adhesives Co. Ltd. and managed this company as well as Jowat (Beijing). Until her retirement, Cindy was a significant leader at Jowat and was highly regarded and respected in the Chinese industry and markets. Cindy's attention to detail and her ability to always keep the big picture and the company's well-being in mind have been extremely valuable. Too high adhesive temperatures in edgebanding ♨️ Edgebanding failures can be caused by too high processing temperatures of the hot melt adhesive. This can lead to increased stringing, misaligned edgebands and a yellow-brownish discoloring of the hot melt adhesive. In addition, it increases the risk of the adhesive being pressed out of the joint and soiling the product. Prolonged standstills are particularly critical and may lead to an overheating of the adhesive in the melter. 🌡️ One tried and trusted solution to prevent this failure is to measure the temperature directly at the applicator roller using an infrared thermometer and to adjust it if necessary. The mass-balance approach facilitates the combination and tracking of fossil and renewable raw materials in any proportion. Due to the mass-balance process, sustainable raw materials can be added upstream in the manufacturing chain and later allocated to the end product. This provides a transparent and traceable method to identify the content of sustainable materials in the product. Mass balancing facilitates the transition to a circular economy by reducing the use of fossil raw materials and at the same time increasing demand for sustainable alternatives. Apart from promoting the protection of the environment, this also support the sustainable transformation of companies like Jowat by enabling them to lower their CO2 emissions and minimize their dependency on limited resources.
