Application- and hardware-specific quantum algorithms for industrial quantum advantage
Info
Kipu Quantum is a German quantum computing startup based in Karlsruhe and Berlin. We meet customer needs by tackling real-world problems for a variety of business domains. What makes Kipu unique is our focus on application- and hardware-specific quantum algorithms that are packaged into software products. Kipu operates at the nexus of customer use cases, hardware platforms, and the software layer - because quantum computers are still more than 10 years away from solving meaningful problems with standard approaches. We intend to drastically reduce the time to useful quantum computing - our solutions enable customers to derive value from quantum computing years ahead of other approaches, i.e. not just in the distant future.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 In a cosmic twist that even the most imaginative storytellers couldn’t create, astronomers have recently unveiled the universe’s largest known structure—a colossal formation stretching 𝟭.𝟯 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 and boasting a mass of approximately 200 quadrillion suns! They have rightly named this 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗽𝘂, drawing inspiration from the ancient Incan system of knotted cords used for record-keeping and computing. Our company's name, 𝗞𝗜𝗣𝗨 𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗨𝗠, is derived from the same Incan quipu - a sophisticated method of #encoding information through intricate knots. These early “data storage” systems were not just a way to record numbers: they were a fundamental tool for organizing society, tracking knowledge, and passing information across generations. Interestingly, Quipu is the Spanish word—also used in English—for this system, corresponding to Khipu in Quechua, the language of the Incas. Khipu means "knot," and these knots, arranged along colored strings, carried complex encoded information. In some Quechua variants, the word Kipu is also used interchangeably with Khipu, giving us a trilogy of names: 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗽𝘂, 𝗞𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘂, and 𝗞𝗶𝗽𝘂. The quipu’s structure - a main cord with various subsidiary cords, each with knots positioned to convey meaning—reflects the #complexity we explore in quantum computing today. It’s fascinating how this ancient system resonates with modern technological concepts, revealing that the way we structure, and process #information has always been a defining part of human advancement. So, the next time someone inquiries about our name, it carries an even deeper significance—a connection between history, technology, and the cosmos itself. From the Incas’ knotted networks to the vast interwoven galaxies of Quipu, from early symbolic #dataencoding to the future of #quantumcomputing! 💡 https://lnkd.in/dTYt34eB Picture made at the Computer History Museum Enrique Solano, Daniel Volz, Tobias Grab

Yesterday, UNESCO officially launched the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, recognizing the incredible breakthroughs happening in this field. And they couldn’t have picked a better time. Quantum technologies are set to reshape industries worldwide, driving breakthroughs in security, communication, cryptography, medicine, logistics, and beyond. And it's not just theoretical—real-world applications are already happening this year! One of the most exciting frontiers? The merging of #quantumcomputing with #AI. This combination will be far more efficient and powerful than either technology alone, unlocking unprecedented capabilities. We’re incredibly proud that our Co-CEO and International Advisor of Biscay Government Quantum Strategy, Enrique Solano and was invited by BBC News Business Today to discuss what’s next in quantum computing (watch here: https://lnkd.in/d_p5jvim). The momentum is building, and businesses worldwide need to be ready for what’s coming. Exciting times ahead! Who else is excited about the breakthroughs coming our way? #BIQAIN BizkaiaTech Valentin Garcia, Nerea Martiartu

𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 Our Kipu Quantum team is proud to announce a new collaboration with Lufthansa Industry Solutions(LHIND) as a subcontractor within the project DLR Quantum Computing Initiative QCMobility. In the project, we will address three interdependent #optimization problems that are part of 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: ✅ 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿 ✅ 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 ✅ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 Together with LHIND, we will model these mathematical problems by using QUBO and HUBO formulations to implement them on quantum computers and solve them using highly efficient #quantumalgorithms. These algorithms will be evaluated on both classical computers and quantum hardware, and benchmarking them with respect to scalability and applicability to flight operations. The data for the project will be provided directly by Eurowings' operational planning systems, involving over 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟯 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, adding high complexity to the task. Our team is looking forward to bringing in our leading expertise in application- and hardware-specific quantum solutions and contribute to the success of the project through the adaption of Kipu’s algorithms for aviation. 📢 For more information, please read the press release here: https://lnkd.in/dp8NXw9Y 💡 Do you want to learn more about the project, read here more: https://lnkd.in/dfGa3v43 Benedict Wenzel Jan Trautmann
