How do you view sustainability in the cow milk sector? What builds your trust in sustainable claims in this sector? And what information matters most when you're choosing cow milk products? Meo Carbon Solutions is helping our sister company, ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification, develop a new certification scheme that can help family dairy farms (FDFs) understand their current carbon footprint and identify potential areas for reduction, which can promote sustainable agricultural practices. We want to hear your thoughts on how you perceive and trust these “green” claims, particularly around carbon footprint reduction. Your insights could play a role in shaping future certifications and supporting more transparent communication. The survey is quick, anonymous and won't collect personal data. You can access it here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/esbff-PW. #Sustainability #CowMilk #FarmerEmpowerment #CarbonFootprint #DairyFarming

Last month, Meo Carbon Solutions and our project partners kicked off the new EU-funded project on "Biodiversity Governance and Performance in the Food Sector," supported under the EU LIFE program. Our Senior Project Manager, Dr. Claudia Bulgheroni, and Project Manager, Beatriz Fonseca, had the opportunity to represent Meo Carbon Solutions at the kick-off meeting hosted by the Global Nature Fund (GNF). It brought together our project consortium, which consists of NGOs, industry representatives and academia—including Food for Biodiversity, Justus Liebig University Giessen, Bodensee-Stiftung and GNF. This four-year project addresses the food sector's impact on biodiversity, aiming to improve biodiversity management and performance in Germany and other EU countries. With new EU legislation requiring more companies to address biodiversity risks and dependencies, this project supports food companies in meeting these requirements and encourages them to go beyond compliance. Building on the German initiative, Food for Biodiversity, the project will support the creation of at least five national food-sector initiatives across the EU to raise biodiversity standards. A European-wide network will work to define a Basic Set of Biodiversity Criteria, align monitoring practices, and facilitate knowledge exchange. Additionally, the project will provide training to managers and auditors to strengthen biodiversity-focused reporting, support farmers with biodiversity incentives and highlight biodiversity credit schemes. At Meo Carbon Solutions, we'll be exploring the potential of biodiversity credits to finance ecosystem restoration. Our goal is to empower European companies and NGOs to invest in nature conservation and restoration, creating not only environmental impact but also financial value while embedding biodiversity into the core of corporate strategies in the agri-food sector. We would like to extend a special thanks to our project partners for making the kick-off successful: Bodensee-Stiftung, Justus Liebig University Giessen, Food for Biodiversity and Global Nature Fund. #LIFEAmplifier #LIFEproject #LIFEprogramme #EUBiodiversity #EUpollinators #Farm2Fork

We're proud to share that our Senior Project Manager, Dr. Claudia Bulgheroni, recently represented Meo Carbon Solutions at the 2024 Sustainable Aviation Fuel & Bioethanol Summit in Tokyo, Japan. This event was organized by the USDA and the U.S. Grains Council (USGC), in collaboration with Japanese partners. Dr. Bulgheroni was invited by the US Grains Council to present preliminary findings from our ongoing project with USGC. This project is an analysis of default Indirect Land Use Change (ILUC) and Core Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) values for US bioethanol within the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (#CORSIA) framework. Her presentation examined comparisons between various models, assumptions and input datasets used to calculate ILUC values for US corn ethanol in CORSIA. Dr. Bulgheroni also contributed to a panel discussion on "Global Policy, Feedstock, and Modeling Impacts on Bioethanol and SAF Markets," moderated by Dr. Seth Meyer (Chief Economist with the USDA). She highlighted critical points on potential over/underestimations and uncertainties inherent in ILUC modeling for sustainable aviation fuels under CORSIA. Meo Carbon Solutions would like to thank the USDA, USGC and the Japanese partners for hosting us. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the other speakers, panelists, moderators and guests who shared their valuable insights to the event. #Sustainability #Bioethanol #SAF #SustainableAviation

Are you curious about how bio-based certifications align with the EU's sustainability goals? Read the #HorizonEU #BioReCer project interview with Meo Carbon Solutions' Project Manager Monica Pandey to gain insight into how current certification schemes cover secondary biological feedstocks and the ways BioReCer's Environmental and Sustainability Framework complements these certifications alongside benefiting companies. She also highlights how certification schemes can help ensure compliance with the EU's evolving sustainability goals and regulations for biological resources. Read her interview and other BioReCer partners here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eMt7un9w The BioReCer project focuses on evaluating and enhancing current certification schemes for biological resources to align with the EU's new sustainability goals and foster bio-based circular systems. This involves integrating new criteria that reflect EU taxonomy and corporate due diligence regulations into guidelines for certifying the sustainability, origin and traceability of biological resources—ensuring their relevance both in the EU and globally. By promoting the sustainability and trade of these resources, BioReCer aims to boost the value, usage and public acceptance of bio-based products.
