🕰️🔙 Throwback Thursday: The Early Days of Leasing – How It All Began... In 1967, Mercedes-Benz's leasing business was established in Germany, at the Mercedes-Benz factory site in Untertürkheim, Stuttgart. Fun Fact: The first vehicles ever leased were six Mercedes-Benz LAK 2220 all-wheel-drive tippers. Over the next two decades, Mercedes Leasing GmbH was founded, and the business model gained significant traction. In response to the growing demand, an innovative installment calculator was developed, enabling dealers to instantly calculate leasing and financing offers on the spot. Leasing continues to enjoy great popularity and is offered by Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG and its local subsidiaries in 34 markets worldwide! Have you ever leased a car before? Challenge accepted🏆🚀 Understanding our company strategy is essential for every employee to contribute to our overall success. Our strategy board game offers a fun and engaging way to enhance this knowledge across the organization. To determine who truly masters our strategy, we organized a live match where our Board of Management (BoM) competed against two strong challenger teams from our HR and Sales Department. After an intense and thrilling competition, the BoM had to settle for second place! The well-deserved victory in the "Beat the BoM" challenge went to the HR Power Trio — Claudia Mann, Besnik Syla, and Nadine Kehrer. They now have the honor of selecting a non-profit organization to receive a €500 donation. Throughout the event, our audience had the chance to learn and engage. In addition to the exciting match, five market stands offered valuable insights into current projects and achievements. Kudos to the participating teams and a great audience for making this event truly memorable!🌟

⚡ Today is a big day for charging in North America! Our charging joint venture IONNA has achieved a major milestone today.   The IONNA network officially launched with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at their first “rechargery” in Apex, North Carolina, USA.   Founded by BMW Group, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차), Kia, Stellantis, Toyota Motor Corporation, and us, IONNA ramped up with a soft launch of its first sites in December 2024 and now boasts four charging stations in operation, with eight more under construction. They are on track to install 30,000 DC fast charging points across the US and Canada by 2030.   Stay tuned for more exciting developments across our charging infrastructure worldwide!

This perfectly aligns with our joint venture with BMW Group, IONCHI, which not only represents advanced technological innovation but also has remarkable achievements to announce.   Since the launch of its first #charging station in October 2024, IONCHI has made significant strides in the EV charging landscape. In just three months, over 200 sites and more than 1,250 charging points are already live! This rapid expansion underscores our commitment to driving the future of sustainable mobility.   With IONCHI, we set new standards for premium high-power charging in China. Beginning February 2025, Mercedes-Benz drivers in the U.S. will gain access to over 20,000 Tesla Superchargers, seamlessly integrated with our navigation system and the Mercedes-Benz app. This expansion leads to our Mercedes me Charge network growing to over 117,000 public charging points across North America. It’s more than just convenience; it's about leading the industry in providing reliable, widespread charging infrastructure. For current vehicles, adapters will be available at authorized dealerships, while future models will feature built-in NACS ports.
