Zukunftsstudie by MÜNCHNER KREIS e.V., “Das Deep Tech Manifest: Weckruf für einen schlummernden Riesen”, highlights the immense potential of Deep Tech for Germany’s innovation capacity, global competitiveness, and technological sovereignty. However, realizing this potential requires vision, deliberate action, and bold decision-making across all sectors. The study provides recommended actions. Deep Tech bridges the gap between science fiction and reality, operating at the cutting edge of scientific knowledge and technological feasibility. It includes transformative fields like AI, Quantum Computing, Robotics, Health Tech, Nuclear Fusion, and Space Tech. Germany offers ideal conditions for Deep Tech innovation: world-class research, a highly skilled workforce, a dynamic startup ecosystem, and global market leaders dedicated to staying competitive. Yet, challenges such as risk aversion, excessive focus on short-term ROI, insufficient knowledge and technology transfer, bureaucratic barriers, and lack of long-term vision and courage for investments hinder progress. Deep Tech ventures face long, uncertain, and high-risk development paths, that demand sustained, strategic investment. Success requires not only research excellence but also translating breakthroughs into real-world applications by testing, scaling, and industrializing them under market conditions. When successful, Deep Tech innovations don’t just disrupt industries—they transform entire ecosystems. Consider the impact of Generative AI, the promise of nuclear fusion to reshape energy systems, advanced biotech’s potential to eradicate diseases, and space technology's role in both interplanetary exploration and enhancing life on Earth. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗔𝗣 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴? As a global leader in enterprise software, SAP has been connecting technology and business for over 50 years. Innovation is central to our strategy, focusing on business-driven, product-oriented advancements that deliver real value for our customers. At SAP, we aim to bridge the gap between research and application. For instance, since 2019, we have been collaborating with the Technical University of Munich on Deep Tech topics such as Quantum Computing and AI, thereby exploring, for example, Generative AI, Deep Reinforcement Learning, Probabilistic Programming, and Explainable AI. Over the past year, I had the privilege of contributing to the Zukunftsstudie IX, representing SAP alongside my colleagues Dr. Michael Wittmann and Dr. Leonard Przybilla. Presenting at the Abschlusskonferenz and being interviewed by Handelsblatt were personal highlights of this journey. 📖 Find the study here: https://lnkd.in/d_pYpg6A 📰 Read about it in Handelsblatt: https://lnkd.in/d2Y_u3Hk #DeepTech #Innovation #FutureOfTech #SAP #SAPMunich
