🌋 Der Ätna-Ausbruch aus zwei Perspektiven 📸 Der jüngste Ausbruch des Ätna ist ein faszinierendes und spektakuläres Naturschauspiel: Aus dem Bocca-Nuova-Krater (entstanden im Jahr 1968) eruptierte Anfang Februar auf knapp 3.050 m Höhe glühend heiße Lava, die sich in den folgenden Wochen zu einem 4,3 Kilometer langen Strom entlang der steilen, schneebedeckten Hänge des Ätna ergoss. Auf rund 1.800 m Höhe erreichte der Lavastrom die Pista Altomontana – eine Schotterpiste und ein Wanderweg –, was Touristen einen bequemen Zugang zu diesem Naturschauspiel ermöglichte. Diese Gelegenheit für eine geführte Tour nutzte unser Kollege Hannes Blitza von terrestris GmbH & Co. KG, dessen private Fotos wir freundlicherweise teilen dürfen. Ein ausführliches Monitoring der vulkanischen Aktivitäten wird unter anderem vom Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia durchgeführt. In den wöchentlichen Berichten werden Messergebnisse der stark variierenden Lava-Eruptionen sowie Modelle des Stroms präsentiert. We can see green goals wither – from space! 🚀 #COP16 in Rome is trying to pick up the pieces left from #Cali, where talks crumbled over the financing question. Since then, the political climate has shifted in many places and the question of #biodiversity funding 💰📉 is more uncertain than ever. The private sector can fill the void in addressing the biodiversity crisis to an extent by understanding the issue as a business risk and by making impacts transparent. After all, pollination 🐝 services alone are valued between $235bn and $577bn annually. The Biodiversity Environmental Reporting #BioDivER project by mundialis GmbH & Co. KG and Climate & Company aims to support companies in their reporting obligations and biodiversity risk assessments from two perspectives: - How does the company affect its environment? - How does the environment affect the company? We use earth observation data 🛰️ to build a growing database that provides easy access to #ESRS 📊 compatible reporting dimensions and sector-based risk analysis with global coverage. Every year, Open Data Day (ODD) serves as a global celebration of open data, highlighting its importance in fostering transparency, innovation, and collaboration across various industries. Maintained and supported by the Open Knowledge Foundation (OKFN) through the Open Knowledge Network, ODD encourages groups worldwide to create local events where they use open data in their communities. Since 2023, organizations have the flexibility to host an Open Data Day event within a one-week period, ensuring greater inclusivity and participation. In 2025, Open Data Day will take place from March 1-7. While we are unable to participate directly this year, we want to take this opportunity to emphasize the crucial role that open data plays in the geospatial and Earth observation (#EO) sectors. As a company dedicated to geodata and EO, mundialis specializes in processing and analyzing open geospatial data to develop innovative solutions for environmental monitoring, climate resilience, and urban planning. 🌍 Klimaregionen präzise analysieren – für ein besseres Verständnis klimatischer Veränderungen Klimaregionen sind Gebiete mit ähnlichen klimatischen Bedingungen, die Temperatur, Niederschlag, Vegetation und andere Umweltfaktoren berücksichtigen. Sie bilden die Grundlage für viele wissenschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Entscheidungen – von der Landnutzungsplanung über die Wasserwirtschaft bis hin zum Naturschutz. Doch Klimaregionen sind nicht statisch. Sie verändern sich durch natürliche Klimaschwankungen und den Klimawandel. Um diese Entwicklungen sichtbar zu machen, ist eine präzise Analyse und Abgrenzung notwendig. Wir verfügen über die Expertise, um Klimaregionen auf Basis von Fernerkundungsdaten zu analysieren. Wir verarbeiten große Mengen an Satellitendaten, harmonisieren Zeitreihen verschiedener Umwelt- und Klimavariablen und erstellen vergleichbare Datensätze mit hoher räumlicher und zeitlicher Auflösung. Dieser Datensatz wurde im Auftrag des Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale Abruzzo e Molise "G. Caporale" im Rahmen des PROVNA Projektes erzeugt (funded by World Organisation for Animal Health - WOAH).
