Learn more about the digital innovators in the programme!   1️⃣ GIVO Africa – The GIVO Technology Platform leverages cutting-edge Internet-of-Things (IoT) and blockchain technologies to provide real-time waste tracking and transparent data collection.  2️⃣ eBusaka Green Technology – A digital waste management platform streamlining waste collection, enhancing transparency, and improving operational efficiency in Zambia.   3️⃣ Qarkonomia - Platform of Circular Economy in Albania by the Center for Competitive Skills –  A circular economy platform which serves as a dynamic hub for companies, academic institutions, and communities to share resources, expertise, and best practices that advance circular economy principles in Albania. The Innovate2PREVENT programme, jointly implemented by the PREVENT Waste Alliance and Yunus Environment Hub, offers 15 innovators the opportunity to advance their circular solutions. Here are the changemakers tackling plastic pollution with upstream solutions!    1️⃣ EcoTrace by Mount Kenya University - MKU – The mobile EcoTrace refill stations provide affordable, everyday consumer goods without plastic packaging in Kenya,    2️⃣ Grass Straws by Greenjoy Company Limited – Producing compostable straws and utensils from natural grass, reducing plastic waste in the Mekong Delta.     3️⃣ Vikalp by Why Waste Wednesdays Foundation – The Vikalp project enables a "Borrow a Bag" program with reusable cloth bags in India.    4️⃣ 3R Solution by Social Lab Environmental Solutions – Through the 3R Solution, packaging is recovered, reconditioned, and supplied for reuse to the companies in the paint and motor lubricant sector in India.    5️⃣ iRefill – Smart refill dispensers for fast-moving consumer goods, promoting reuse and reducing single-use plastics in India.    6️⃣ Salin Swap by Salin PH – Providing reusable containers and smart tracking systems to eliminate single-use plastics in the Philippines.   7️⃣  Spex by DercolBags Packaging – An online food and delivery platform distributing reusable packages to participating restaurants and food vendors in Ghana! The Innovate2PREVENT programme, implemented by the PREVENT Waste Alliance and Yunus Environment Hub, offers 15 innovators the opportunity to advance their circular solutions. 🌍✨ It's been one year since we launched the Global Action Partnership for Extended Producer Responsibility! Let's take a look at some GAP for EPR Highlights from 2024! The GAP for EPR is an international partnership established between Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, OECD - OCDE, UN Environment Programme and WWF. It also receives circular economy support from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and is hosted by PREVENT. 🤝 With a goal of jointly advancing EPR, the GAP for EPR took important steps to build the three pillars necessary to achieve just that: community, library, and the helpdesk. 1️⃣ Building a growing community: with webinars on policy measures, EPR structures, and specialised areas such as construction, and member-only discussions on upstream measures such as reuse. 2️⃣ Making knowledge accessible: with over 50 peer-reviewed EPR publications as well as events at INC-5, IFAT, and the World Circular Economy Forum which stimulated a discussion on the potential of EPR and its chances to support a Just Transition. 3️⃣ Supporting EPR journeys across the globe: with the GAP for EPR Helpdesk pilots in Malaysia and Argentina as well as various other tailored consultation sessions and workshops to pave the way towards EPR implementation! Meet the inspiring participants addressing the global e-waste challenge! 💡 The Innovate2PREVENT programme is being implemented by the PREVENT Waste Alliance and Yunus Environment Hub. It offers 15 innovators the opportunity to advance their circular solutions. Each innovator contributes to one of three tracks: (1) reuse, refurbishment or repair of electrical and electronic equipment, (2) upstream solutions in the plastics value chain, (3) integrated digital or data-driven circular economy solutions.
