🚀 You think financing is all serious and not much fun? Not when it comes to innovative financing models and alternative ownership solutions! This week at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, Achim Hensen, co-founder of the #PurposeFoundation and #PurposeVentures, was given the chance to facilitate an engaging workshop on this topic – during this year’s “Impact Finance Innovations Programme”. ❤️ "We also laughed, joked, were vulnerable about things we are struggling with, connected around shared frustrations & built relationships that will power innovation & capital distribution” – summons Aunnie Patton Power about her “favorite week of the year”. There’s basically nothing to add to that. 💡 Except some info on our input: Achim Hensen shared a learning journey on #stewardownership and aligned financing strategies that make sure that companies stay purpose-driven and independent in the long run. We, like many of the participants of the programme, find it indispensable to discuss the significance of ownership issues in the context of impact investing and finance in general. 🙏 Many thanks to the programme, participants, and fellow speakers. We’re very happy to have been part again of one of the most advanced and significant courses for investors around the world to learn more about alternative finance and what needs to change in the impact investing field – in order to contribute to transforming the global economy. You want to learn how well investment can work with #StewardOwnership, raising 6 million euros and enabling long-term #independence? Here we go! 🚀 🌾😸 Berlin based Porridge company Haferkater – popular throughout Germany for its healthy porridge-to-go at traffic hubs – has taken the final steps into steward-ownership, ten years after the startup has been founded as a breakfast spot in Berlin. 💰 For the step of becoming steward-owned, the company had to face the challenge of buying out their early stage investors who had equipped the company with capital, enabled it to grow, and had received shares in return. This is the usual way to go, but both #Zentis #Ventures and Katjes Greenfood agreed upon the founders’ vision to buy back the shares and set up the company independently. Kudos for being so open-minded for the founders’ wishes and needs! 🎈 So the ambitious goal about a year ago was to raise at least € 3.5 million with a big crowd-investing campaign. At the same time, Haferkater began to raise money also from steward-ownership aligned investors – in order to enable the next growth steps as well.  🏁 Now Haferkater has crossed the finishing line, or rather: flown over it! The company has not only raised the targeted 3.5 million euros with their crowdinvesting campaign through the GLS #Crowd, but has also collected 2.3 million euros in capital from new investors, including #PurposeVentures, #Cantella, Karma Capital Group and private investors. In the meantime, #PurposeConsulting has supported Haferkater to work out a steward-ownership structure that fits their needs and values. #SOAF #stewardownership #alignedfinancing 🚀 The Haferkater Story is a prime example of how investments can wonderfully work within steward-ownership structures – and how it is possible to also raise large sums of capital in steward-ownership. With 29 franchise branches in Germany and Austria, Haferkater has now become the first major player in the German transit food service sector that can never be speculatively sold again. 📰 The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, one of Germany's leading daily newspapers, has just published a detailed, spot-on feature on this case in its Finance section – an interesting extra-piece of info for all our German-speaking readers :) 👉 Please find the link in the comments below!
