Following the collapse of Germany's coalition with the traffic light system last week, we explain the background to the failure and the next steps before a new election. Not only does a new coalition have to be found at federal level, but this is also still pending in three German federal states. What role preambles play in this is described by Florian Meidenbauer in his commentary in our #3x3 newsletter. He takes a closer look at the history and purpose of preambles, exploring their role as the "brand promise" of politics—high ideals that often stand apart from everyday governance. Parliamentary summer break in Germany isn't just about prepping our clients for the political marathon ahead - we're also lacing up for the annual #Bundestagslauf! Yesterday, 11 of our colleagues hit the ground running in Berlin's picturesque Tiergarten. From 2.5km sprints to 7.5km endurance tests, our team kept pace with MPs, ministry officials, and other political stakeholders. And while we know Vikings traditionally preferred longships to land-speed records, our team's performance was nothing short of legendary. Special kudos to Sarah Grudzinski who was the fastest woman to run the 2.5km! 🏆 Post-run, we traded our running shoes for steins at a local Biergarten - congrats to all our #RPPA runners! #RPRuns #PublicAffairs
