This geometry is fully automated! We have reduced modeling time by more than 96%. 🤯 I'm so proud of this project I'm doing together with Scawo3D and Skeno. We are making 3D printed formworks for staircases, and the modelling process now takes minutes instead of days ❤️. For the nerds out there: What kind of geometry definitions do you think we've used?

Last week, Scawo3D participated in the "Bau Innovativ – einfach zukunftssicher" symposium organized by Energie & Bau bei Bayern Innovativ. The event focused on leveraging innovation within a construction industry that is facing challenging times. We demonstrated the geometric possibilities achievable through particle bed concrete 3d printing, while maintaining material properties akin to standardized concrete, with a stand designed by Skeno using spherene. Selective Paste Intrusion (SPI) provides, among many brilliant solutions presented at the event, one potential way forward for the sector, allowing for structural optimization or the integration of geometrically complex functions into building components - both of which were previously not always economically feasible. The parametric modeling of this one broke my brain. But it's awesome! 📽️👇 I've been helping Scawo3D and Skeno with this beautiful project! Lesson learned: If someone ever asks you if you can help automate some stairs, don't underestimate the complexity 😅. But now we can generate perfect stairs for pretty much any space - at millimeter precision! Complex shapes = complex fabrication. Not anymore! Earlier this year, for a project by Tschanen AG, we produced our largest 3D printed staircase to date by Selective Paste Intrusion - an elliptical freeform with a maximum diameter of 3.5 metres spanning two storeys of a private residence. The 13 individual formwork segments were planned by Skeno and Timo Harboe Zollner, printed at our facility in South Tyrol in only 16 hours, assembled on-site in just two working days, and thereafter filled with cast-in-place concrete. Together with the 3D printed balustrades, the whole staircase was plastered white, creating a seamless aesthetic. We can build faster and smarter with 3D printing. In March at NOI Techpark in Bolzano, we presented how we apply a novel method for 3D concrete printing on actual built projects. Follow the link to watch the presentation: https://lnkd.in/eQe7EfYa In an event on Additive Manufacturing, we presented projects that were recently 3D printed at Scawo3D using Selective Paste Intrusion (SPI) – a novel method for large-scale particle bed 3D printing of concrete. Through these projects as well as ongoing research and development, we showed what a novel technology enables us to realise already today. Among the presented projects were a 1:1 scale prototype for a segmented and 3D printed concrete bridge, a collaborative demonstrator project by the AMC - TRR 277 and the TUM School of Engineering and Design (ED), and a spiral freeform staircase from 3D stay-in-place formwork. The latter was realized for Tschanen AG and showcases SCAWO3D's efforts in automating computational design workflows with Skeno and Timo Harboe Zollner. More news on the staircases coming soon!
