Anyone who has ever spent a vacation on a farm will be familiar with the cowsheds, barns, sheds for tractors and utility vehicles – ideally with solar panels on the roofs. And perhaps you have seen the blue, yellow or red inverters mounted directly under these roofs, as shown in the picture.   Farmers have appreciated our inverters for many years – and continue to use them enthusiastically.   Today, our solar and energy systems come in elegant white, but they are still as much in demand in agriculture as ever. This is also confirmed by the current DLG e.V. - German Agricultural Society Image Barometer, in which we took first place in the "Renewable Energies" category, as we did last year.   Add to that a breath of fresh country air and lots of solar power! 🌞

This week marked a major milestone as our first Sunny Central FLEX was successfully delivered to its project site. Combining innovative technology and quality German engineering, our modular power plant solution is now part of the Hydrogen Valley in Wolfhagen. Starting in Feb. 2025, it will demonstrate its performance in commercial operation. We are delighted to receive the Top Innovation Award 2024, which the expert jury of pv magazine Deutschland has awarded to Sunny Central FLEX. The jury recognized that our solution facilitates the integration of PV, battery and hydrogen applications in large-scale projects and offers planners greater cost efficiency. After winning The smarter E Award at this year's Intersolar, this accolade marks the second significant honor for SMA's innovative modular power plant solution. Today we published our 9 month results Jan-Sep 2024. As expected, sales and earnings for SMA have been lower in the first nine months of 2024 compared with the previous year. Group sales reached €1,059.7 million compared with €1,337.4 million in the year before. Sales in the Home Solutions and Commercial and Industrial Solutions segments were significantly influenced by a sustained market slowdown. Against this backdrop, sales in the Home Solutions segment amounted to €147.0 million (9M 2023: €486.2 million) and in the Commercial & Industrial Solutions segment to €148.7 million (9M 2023: €333.7 million). As planned, the Large Scale & Project Solutions segment posted significant sales growth, achieving €764.0 million compared with €517.5 million in the same period of 2023. The Managing Board adjusts the full-year guidance: sales of between €1,450 million to €1,500 million; EBITDA of between -€20 million to €20 million. From fossil fuels to eco-friendly:  In the past, all of the operating processes at the Osio Sopra quarry in the province of Bergamo were powered by fossil fuels, which resulted in CO2 emissions and noise pollution from the machinery. To counteract this and become more sustainable, a solar power plant with 1 Sunny Central was installed in 2013, replacing diesel generators and reducing electricity costs. Now the project has been expanded to include another PV system on the site of a former reservoir, equipped with 10 Sunny Tripower inverters. All energy flows are managed via the Sunny Portal monitoring platform, which enables almost uninterrupted operation. From the offices to the heating and cooling system to the parking lots, which are equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles of customers and suppliers, the entire quarry operation is supplied with solar energy. The 10th SMA Innovation & Technology Day was once again a great reminder of the exciting projects we're working on at SMA. Quite a few of them where still unknown to many of our colleagues. And it was at the same time demonstration of how fun, creativity and lively collaboration can be the driving force behind innovation!   Featuring live demos, presentations and workshops including a show act under the solar roof – numerous colleagues took the opportunity to talk shop, share ideas, and put their creative concepts to the test.   A big thank you to all the colleagues on stage and behind the scenes who made this day possible.

Precision work was required before the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), including the Sunny Central Storage battery inverter, could begin its test phase. The 16t container was safely lowered by crane to the test site next to the new SMA GIGAWATT factory. In the coming weeks, the system will practice supplying off-grid solar and battery power using Samsung's SDI E5S batteries before the 7.6 MWh BESS container will then be installed in Angola, Africa.   We are very happy with the success of this operation. The Champ de Paris solar farm in Yvré L'Évêque, France, was recently commissioned in a former quarry. An installation covering 20.6 ha has been constructed on 35 ha. The power generated is fed directly into the grid after being converted from DC to AC using PEAK 3 inverters. But there’s even more: It provides a protected habitat for frogs, bats and reptiles over an area of around 17 hectares. This area will remain untouched by humans for the next 30 years, allowing a unique ecosystem to develop. Sheep will graze in a meadow and environmental projects with school classes are planned.
