🌍 Partnership for a Sustainable Steel Industry Together with Midrex Technologies, Inc. we pioneer super-scale projects for the decarbonization of Europe´s steel industry. By integrating the MIDREX® Direct Reduction Process with SMS group's Open Bath Furnace (OBF), we are setting new standards in decarbonizing existing integrated steelmaking plants. Our innovative approach enables up to a 65% emissions reduction by transitioning from natural gas to 100% hydrogen. 🥳Thumbs up for our Hilchenbach workshop team: We are celebrating the manufacturing of the 100th converter tilting drive. It only took 25 years since the supply of the first one, which went to France in 1999. Our tilt drives are especially renowned for their high quality and durability, with each drive designed and manufactured with precision and in compliance with the strictest quality standards. A unique feature is our in-house developed and patented hydraulic torque retaining system for AOD converters.🛠️ This solution limits the dynamic loads from the AOD process to a minimum and, when retrofitted, even improves converters supplied by other manufacturers. The 100th converter tilt drive is an important milestone, but were are sure: this is only an intermediate step in terms of innovation and new concepts.
