Last week, we had an incredible time at the Bitmark Hackathon 2024 in Zurich, where we tackled a vital challenge for the Digital Content Integrations community, Springer Books! 📚 Alina Strelkovskaia presented a hacking challenge focused on interoperability, inspired by editorial use cases for interactive content at Springer. Under her guidance, an international team of talented backend developers and UX designers worked toward creating a business-efficient solution! 🌍 In just 24 hours, the team produced an initial prototype of an immersive mobile reader for Springer publications. Imagine transforming traditional pages into an interactive playground! 🎮📖 This innovative tech solution aims to seamlessly integrate interactive content in formats like DICOM (medical imaging), CDF (scientific simulation), and GLB (3D animation) – elevating the reading experience to new heights! 🚀 While there is still lots of work to be done, this prototype marks a promising first step toward a unified mobile solution for reading academic books published by Springer. What’s Next? 🔍 Alina will continue to spearhead the development of tech solutions aimed at enhancing editorial use cases and reading practices in academic circles. Stay tuned as we combine research and development to advance this mobile reader project! 📅🔜 Shoutout to Our Champions! 🙌 A massive thank you to the Bitmark Association for organizing this amazing event and supporting our hacking challenge! And, of course, a huge round of applause for our dedicated hacking team: Alina Strelkovskaia (Product Owner) Hae Bung Min (Team Lead & UX Designer) Rachel Tan (UX Designer) Kelvin Fosu (UX Designer) Daniel Niederberger (Backend Developer) Po-Jui Chang (Backend Developer) Max Edin (Backend Developer) https://lnkd.in/dg7uUHMJ #bitmarkHackathon2024 #Interoperability #EdTechInnovation bitmark 🚀 makes knowledge accessible

Help shape the future of scientific reporting: We want to hear about your attitudes towards, and possible experience of, sharing null results (also known as ‘negative’ or ‘inconclusive’ results). Your response will help us understand the challenges and opportunities associated with sharing null findings within the research community - even if you have limited experience with null results. The survey results and analysis will be published in a white paper in 2025. Take the survey now and enter a prize draw for 1 of 5 $100 Visa gift cards 👉 https://bit.ly/3O4KEsx

369 participants from 54 countries joined our third annual Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean Summit. Delegates heard from interdisciplinary experts across academia, multilateral institutions, governments, the private sector, and more on the opportunities and challenges facing the region. The event complements the extensive SDG-related content we publish here at Springer Nature: we have published more than 940,000 articles and book chapters across all 17 SDGs since the goals were ratified in 2015. In 2023 alone, a quarter of the articles we published related to the SDGs, and over half of them were published open access enabling everyone to access and use them. Read a summary of the event and some of the practical recommendations for progress from the speakers, and download the policy brief here: https://bit.ly/3Z3QCit
