Your Experts for Neuroscience Testing Tools

Info

Striatech GmbH develops and distributes professional tools and products for visual neuroscience to researchers worldwide. Our tools are made by experts for experts and combine innovative analytical methods with easy handling. Striatech is a young biotech company that spun off from the University of Tübingen, Germany, at the beginning of 2018. The founders – a team of neurobiologists – are all experienced vision researchers and have made it their common goal to make innovative ideas and products from vision and behavioral research accessible to scientists worldwide. To this end, we cooperate with renowned scientists from the field of vision research and numerous physicians. Understanding vision and healing of vision disorders are the primary goals of vision research. Basic and preclinical research for the development of ophthalmic drugs are usually carried out on rodents. For this application we have developed a reliable and objective device for measuring the visual abilities of laboratory rodents. This system, the OptoDrum, meets an important demand: to be able to examine many animals in a short time without bias by the experimenter. So far, it has been very laborious and time-consuming to analyze the corresponding reflex-controlled behavior of laboratory rodents during such measurements. Our OptoDrum system automates this task and provides fast and objective results about contrast sensitivity and spatial resolution. For future extensions of our portfolio, we draw ideas and solutions from applied research and further develop them to marketable products. We look forward to discussing your research needs with you!

  • 🧠 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝘇𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 🧠 On World Alzheimer’s Day, we join the global effort to raise awareness and challenge the stigma around Alzheimer’s and dementia. At Striatech, we’re dedicated to supporting research that advances our understanding of the brain and vision—two areas deeply interconnected with neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. Research continues to uncover the complex roles of proteins like Tau, which is closely linked to Alzheimer’s disease. In a study of Rodriguez et al. used Striatech’s OptoDrum to demonstrate that Tau is crucial for regulating plasticity in the adult brain, responding to sensory changes. These findings shed light on Tau’s elusive role in healthy brain function, advancing our understanding of neurodegenerative diseases. Read more about the study in our current blog post: https://lnkd.in/ejsKytNf By developing our testing tools for visual neuroscience, we aim to contribute to early detection and treatment strategies for Alzheimer’s. #WorldAlzheimersDay #AlzheimersAwareness #DementiaAwareness

Researchers led by Leipzig University, the Universität Augsburg, and the University of Freiburg are answering a key question about the embryonic origin of hyalocytes — a type of macrophage in the eye’s vitreous body. In a mouse study, they found that hyalocytes may develop inside the vitreous, rather than developing in the blood and moving to the eye later in life.
